Dan talks short game with Ryder Cup star Ludvig Åberg | The importance of being able to adapt!

To become a complete short game player, we need to pair great technique with fantastic golfing IQ. In this video, Ludvig demonstrates what world-class IQ looks like by adapting his technique for uphill lies, downhill lies, and rough shots.

Having great technique alone around the greens is not enough. If you possess excellent technique but fail to correctly read the lie and adjust your technique and club choice as required, you will always struggle around the greens.

Ludvig Åberg burst onto the scene in 2023 and became the first player ever to qualify for the Ryder Cup without having played in a Major. Not only was his technique superb, but he was also a genuinely lovely guy.

I hope you learn a lot from this video and head to pages 63 to 76 of ‘The Three Releases’ for more information on the shots covered in this video!

  1. Great to see Aberg working on his short game as that's the only weak point of his game! Became apparent at the BMW @Wentworth and also in the Ryder Cup especially around the fringe of the green.

  2. Brilliant as usual. Need more mud tips as my was game destroyed last week in chips and bunker play in muddy Scotland.

  3. would be nice if the host wasn't talking over the Pro ..we want to hear what the Pro is thinking and not so much the host..let the Pro finish first and then do your part after you as the questions..

  4. Awesome for Ludvig to talk with Dan! Excellent Dan! You are a gem and reveal so much mastery! I’m going to memorize this conversation!

  5. Love watching this outstanding young man play golf! So glad he stayed on the Tour and didn't jump ship!

  6. Are you guys wearing the same shoes? ROFL
Love the uncluttered presentation that Dan provides in his videos. Simple, straightforward, not unnecessarily technical – just good insight.

  7. I just got the book yesterday and this video goes straight into a bookmark. What a gem! Fantastic to see and listen to! Thanks for sharing Dan.

  8. Best lessons I have ever watched and I will tell you Dan I've been relentless looking for a straight up common sense approach to better myself. And this short lesson was just the best . It not only reaffirmed I can get better. My "Lie IQ" has made such a dramatic improvement overall cioz not only did my wedge game improve but so did my understanding of what shot was the appropriate shot on all levels of turf geography. Amazing lesson. Thanks Ludvig and thanks again Dan. You add value every video made and its awesome!

  9. Why this channel has only 103K subscribers is a total mystery. Every video is golden, and his guests just keep getting better. Love this channel.Keep up the good work Dan.

  10. ty for the great videos and world class instruction.
I'll keep watching all of your videos until I can get the release 3,,, released early enough to have my left wrist cupped as I'm going around the left hip. I'm not sure where I should apply my psychic energy to get that post position appearance that you make look so easy.
    thanks again… Best to you

  11. Amazing content. You do a wonderful job of helping these incredibly talented pros articulate the details of what they are doing, and why they are doing it.

  12. My favorite PGA player , I'm not sure what his bio is, lazy looking bios up,where and when type stuff, the crazy thing is ive only followed him twice on 2 differnt tournaments, oh and I caught him on that Taylor made show , idk Me and My golf, it caught my interest because he was the guest, absolutely blow away by his Athleticism, Blown away, just pure as them come. Thank you, Dan. I believe this kid will be # 1 very shortly. idk I'm old school, watching him hit those shots, in my head ,either you can pull those shots off looking effortless or 8 out of 10 are thinned into the club house. what's the saying, I'd rather be lucky than good. That's a brainless statement. I will never agree with that logic.

  13. Hey Dan would you be able to tell use what degree and bounce wedge Ludvig was using there? Thanks!
