The New York Islanders earned their first win of the season last night, defeating the Colorado Avalanche 6-2. It was an emotional return to Colorado for head coach Patrick Roy, and a strong performance for goalie Ilya Sorokin who saw his first action of the new season.

Sorokin was absolutely solid. He made huge saves, especially later in the game. I watched the entire game. Everyone looked much better. Let’s keep it going!!!
Isles so night and day. Getting 30 back a big boost. Offense balanced 13, 11 g, 29 2 g, even 27 scored. Isles even outshoot a faster av's team with a jittery goalie and pk perfect second straight game. Good win. St. roy enjoyed his return to avland. Now off to blows.
