Jordan Henderson reveals his true feelings regarding Trent Alexander-Arnold’s Liverpool expectations.

Former Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson has urged Trent Alexander-Arnold to replicate his England performance against Chelsea. The 25-year-old scored during the Three Lions’ 3-1 victory over Finland on Sunday.

The Reds defender helped extend the lead for Lee Carsley’s team after they recovered from a surprising 2-1 loss at home to Greece earlier in the week. Playing as a left-back in Helsinki, Alexander-Arnold was highlighted by Roy Keane for his role in the stoppage-time goal for the 2004 European Championship winners.

Liverpool will take on Chelsea this Sunday, kicking off a crucial stretch for Arne Slot’s team with Enzo Maresca’s side visiting Anfield. The Reds are set to face Arsenal the following week, but their fight to stay atop the Premier League begins against the Londoners at home.

Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah, and Curtis Jones are among the key players back from international duty with their respective nations, while England’s win on Sunday concludes Alexander-Arnold’s time with the Three Lions for now. After scoring, he shared a brief six-word message on Instagram: “Top Left. Top Team. Top Night.”

His England and Liverpool teammates were quick to comment, with former captain Henderson leaving a message on the full-back’s post, requesting a repeat performance in what could be the toughest challenge of Slot’s time at Liverpool so far. The Ajax midfielder wrote: “Not bad… this weekend again, please.” Liverpool fans will be hoping the 25-year-old can deliver once more by scoring against the Londoners in the Reds’ next match.

Alexander-Arnold has a track record against Chelsea, having scored spectacularly from set-pieces at both Stamford Bridge and Anfield — including in the game that ended their long wait to become Premier League champions.
