The New Jersey Devils came back to The Rock fresh off of a victory over the Caps in D.C. and defeated the Utah Hockey Club by a score of 3-0.
A great outing from this NJ Devils team! With the victory, the Devils improve to 4-1 on the season.
– Jake Allen with a 20 save shutout.
– Seamus Casey breaking ankles and registering a goal and an assist. This kid cannot be stopped!
– Stefan Noesen being the absolute dog that he is!
– Jack Hughes was looking closer to 100%.
– The Devils continued to be HEAVIER, EDGIER, MORE VIOLENT!

Jake Allen became the first goaltender in NHL history to record a win against 33 teams (more than any other goaltender) when the Devils won against Utah yesterday.
Also, I think Damon Severson scored 3 goals in his first 5 career NHL games.
At the game when they presented the three stars, they put Jacob Markstrom's name on the jumbotron when calling Allen first star. They quickly removed it after.
Sooo heres a thought. Palat, casey and pick for tkachuk,whose in? Also surprised about the comment Keefe made on caseys defense considering they have luke coming back who wasnt very good on the defensive zone last year. With that said Go Devs!!
So far, so good. Today will be a good test against Carolina. Great podcast Ace!

Definitely Jacks best game of the season so far.
It’s so nice to watch simple hockey, body on body, dump and chase etc.
Seamus Casey is more like Cale Makar than Luke Hughes is. Casey has more potential to be great where Luke will always be good. We need to be VERY careful not to overpay Luke. Nemec will need to be traded. Hughes and Casey are the future.

Not really a fan of Luke so far, he reminds me of Butcher, good offense but a rag doll in the D zone.
I don't get the Siegs hate on several channels. he is a DEFENSIVE D-Man… this game too, he had the best stats in this case. also in the other games so far. you can't win games with all Caseys and Hughes. you need Siegenthalers and Dillons to win games too.

When Luke and Pesce return you'll have 8 defensemen for 6 spots. Unless we play 7 D? I could almost see playing the hot hand or even a kind of platoon where not everyone plays every game.
Casey's three goals have ALL been the first goal of the game for NJ. Tied the game at 1-1 vs Buffalo and Washington, and got the 1-0 lead vs the Hockey Club. He may cool off, especially as teams start to build up scouting reports on him.

Coaching makes a difference. Haven't seen Hamilton show this much physicality before while in a Devils uniform.
Noessen, Cotter, Dillon, Kovacevic, Lazar, Meier, have brought more grit to the Devs. Even Hamilton is finally using his big body. Guess their example and the new coach are paying dividends. Can't wait for a bulked up Silayev and Brady T (in my dreams) to round this team into a real skilled beast and juggernaut.
All of sudden all you fly by night Devils fans are jumping on the Seamus band wagon? I knew this kid was a stud, watched him play in Michigan. Last year all I heard from Ace was we don't want 3 rookies on the roster, its a nightmare. Now he calls him Elite? Are you serious dude? How about you admit you were totally wrong! How about you stop ass kissing our garbage GM .. now its "fitzy is awesome ". Give me a break. This is a really good team, with a phenomenal group of young talent. Lets hope Keefe isnt being controlled by the lame front office.
Casey has looked great, but let’s temper our expectations. Do we forget about Will Butcher and Ty Smith already? The fanbase was over-the-moon about both and they both flamed out and are out of the NHL now.
This level of scoring is not sustainable, and he has never scored at this rate anywhere else. Look at his stats from Michigan: 8 goals in 22-23 and 7 goals in 23-24. He scored even fewer goals before Michigan with the USNTDP.
Again, I’m thrilled he’s producing. But the goal scoring is going to drop off, and we need to be sure he plays a sound defensive game before giving him a permanent lineup spot.
