Unless Jett falls apart, he’s staying as he’s their best center.
Let’s be honest we all hate losing, but let’s not forget that we are playing one of the most stacked teams in the league three of the guys on their team equal out to about 10 of our guys in points per season. I don’t care how bad their record is that team is stacked.
We had to WAIT 15 EXTRA minutes for espn to do a “postgame” segment for the blues wild BUT THEN THEY DO NOTHING AFTER THE LATE GAME JUST GO RIGHT TO SC.
I hate espn.
The power play looked a hell of a lot better this game. Actually felt dynamic and they moved the puck. Shame we couldn’t get MM the hatty, but we have the rest of his career for that.
Let’s stay focused on the positive here. The power play stole us a point. Let me say that again. **THE POWER PLAY STOLE US A POINT**
As soon as it went to overtime I knew how it was going to go. No idea how that wasn’t called at the end. But hey, two goals for Michkov, and a point, I’ll take it.
Would’ve stung less if JJ was play calling. Definitely wish we had him for M&Ms first and second goal
It was a fun game up until the ending. Trip everyone at the end I guess next time.
Hate the refs bail out the undisciplined team
Can we stop playing winless teams?
I’ll take 1-1-1 to start the season on a very tough road trip, but re-watching that ending is bad. Sanheim falling down, TK gliding into the corner nonchalantly, and Michkov just turned and skated in the opposite direction to leave Ersson out to dry.

That was painful but at least Michkov is gonna keep this team in a lot of games
Don’t let this distract you from the fact Matvei Michkov has more goals in 1 period than “the great Connor McDavid” has in 4 games.
Positive take is this team will be very fun to watch this year. Negative take is I hate ESPN and Ray Ferraro is a Joke. Just call the game stupid. Stop rooting for one team.
Idk maybe it’s just me, but I can’t be mad that the Flyers lost in overtime against McDavid and Drai doing McDavid and Drai things off the back of what is very easy to argue a very easy to call penalty that didn’t get called. Michkov scored twice, Jett looked good, Ersson played great despite the four goals he let in imo. I’m chilling tbh
A game Edmonton had no business winning but that’s the way it goes sometimes. Still mostly loved what I saw out there.
One side note – I swear Tippett would score 40 goals if he just hit the net even a fraction more than he does. Such a great shot that can’t really be taught and shows these dynamic flashes but seems like he misses the net 90% of the time.
Can’t understate the hype of getting MM39 going.
However all three games my issue has been we can’t seem to clear the zone
Just going to have to be patient and realize this team is not a finished product.
Torts will ink out whatever he can but we got a ways to go before we start getting high hopes.
Make us stay up on the east coast just for that bs no call to happen.
Happy with the point happy with the trip. Our guys left it on the ice and did not give up.
The refs naturally had to botch it at the end because we had clearly gotten too many calls in our favor and the Oilers are the cleanest team in the league.
Still happy overall, but the turnovers in our own zone are rough, and Sanheim looks somewhat off.
Tippett looked great
The real winner tonight was the posts
Thank fuck this trip is over.
Overall takeaways after 3 games:
Ersson looks very sharp
MM and Jett are very fun to watch
We have a good looking PK and PP (!!!!)
Coots looks very slow
Defense please get the puck out of our zone
Owen please hit the net
Good night and good hockey
Sanheim should never see the ice in OT again. He lacks the IQ to know where to be positionally on a 3v3. Too much open ice for the poor fella.
Gotta say I’m pretty shocked Michkov switched for Coots right away with McDavid and Draisaitl out. Ballsy that’s for sure.
We really need to do something about our defense. The d-zone turnovers are killer
It should be illegal and punishable by death to schedule an east coast teams first games of the year on the west coast, can’t even get into the season like I usually do because I watched tired. Incredibly annoying. People need to pay for this.
Hard to be mad. They’ve looked real good for the most part. Michkov is a point per game player. Tippett is about to break loose. Good stuff.
Positives: Ersson is legit. Luchanko staying. MM is that dude. He is him. Tippett will start knocking some of these in. Young group overall and they need these lumps to get better, and they will.
Flyers lose and Michkov looks good. I call that a Win win.
Team tank eats again.
It’s back to back games where Top 6 players are fighting you can’t win games with your play makers in the box that’s what they paid Nicky Hammer Fists for

What’s up with 2 back-to-backs in our first 4 games?
Edit: nvm I just realized it’s tomorrow as in THURSDAY but these games running til 1am fucked me lol
Happy with the team effort but damn Couturier (and that contract) look terrible. Dude is eating $7.75m in cap space until 2030.
Was super hyped that Michkov score 2 goals
Great game against a contender that was absolutely desperate for a win.
Imma keep repeat myself that our biggest weakness is our C in terms of faceoffs. Sure some were won today but far too many were straight losses. Can’t be having that especially on pp-faceoffs in the offensive zone.
Am I wrong or did that look like a clear trip on TK at the end of OT? ESPN didn’t even mention it, just quickly showed a highlight then cut back to EDM celebrations.
You see the same fight out of this Philadelphia Flyers team throughout the first three games this season. They’re able to skate and hang with some of the top talent in the NHL but they just can’t put it altogether. Cool to see that first Matvei Michkov goal!
