Had a great time at the alumni game and got a ton of autographs afterwards – the hockey nerd in me was screaming! Some notes:
* I told Locker it was cool seeing him score after years of hearing him on the broadcasts, he said the highlight of his season was Joe B. having to call his goal on the Monumental broadcast 😂
* Yvon Labre (obvious), Lou Franceschetti (1981-89) and Killer Kaminski (1993-97) are absolute riots in the best way.
* I learned later that Gord Smith (1974-79) is actually Billy Smith’s older brother, as in the Isles HHOF goalie.
* Jack Lynch (1974-79) is awesome! Got to chat with him for a few minutes about the game, alumni weekend, and his time with the inaugural-season Caps – really nice guy and an absolute pleasure to talk to.
Hope they start doing them every year again! This was the first one since 2019 and it was even more fun than the last – they made a way bigger deal of it this time.
