Flyers Daily with Jason Myrtetus: A frustrating end to the Flyers 4 game road trip as they fall to the Kraken and we dissect the loss. Plus discussion on the adjustments Fedotov will need to make adjusting to the NHL and how Goaltending can affect the mindset of the other players and how they execute. Also the good and bad from the road trip.

  1. Hello Jason. Remember me? Remember my prediction about Fedotov? He is not an nhl goal tender. The flyers cannot let him play. The flyers left two games out of four on the roadtrip

  2. Loving this Power Play! Seeing things we've never seen…. endless movement and space creating! Always putting themselves in a position for a quality shot! The PP used to look stiff and lifeless. This is a breath of fresh air!

  3. They are not a good team. Many predict them to be in the bottom ten. There are still many holes in the O and D. Goaltending was a major concern. Fedotov is not helping that case

  4. I've been thinking along the same lines as you so far with Fedotov Myrts. Be patient and let him settle in, it's a big adjustment. Last night was brutal though. Just thinking about what we HAVE seen of him so far, (and admittedly it hasn't been a big sample size) I just haven't seen much of anything to be hopeful or excited for. He hasn't flashed much, if at all. It's one thing to just be mediocre while you're getting your feet under you, that's understandable. You can't be an anchor around the neck of the team though, and he was exactly that last night. The NHL is not a developmental league. An average goaltending performance wins that game easily. The team played well for the majority of the 60 minutes, and were just plain let down by their goaltender.

I'm ready to take a look at Kolosov, or find a steady, solid, if unspectacular veteran with experience and knowledge to lend Sam Errson a hand this season. He is still relatively inexperienced himself and I don't feel like he has that sort of presence in the goalie room.

  5. This may be a good time to give Kolosov a shot. I think fedotov has the chance to be good, but I really worry about his age, this stuff is something he may have been able to adapt too better in his early 20s if he had been here playing in the AHL to get used to this style of league. But he spent so long in the KHL his habits and thought processes will be harder to break

  6. Getting plucked out of his goaltending career to serve in the military certainly didn't help Fedotovs skill set. I never fully understood what happened with that. It seems as if he was singled out. Im pretty confident Michov never served. As a matter of fact, I can remember another player that it happened to. I know other have had visa and passport issues but the Fedotov thing was completely new to me.

  7. Morning Jason, Just your thoughts on this road trip , I believe it’s disappointing we are getting goaltending like that we can’t be giving these points up this early in The season they are too valuable should have had a least 5 points on this trip can we afford to let him play more games ?

  8. Small sample size but the defense is wretched.
I predicted that Koloslov would be the back up by Xmas but I'm thinking Thanksgiving now.
If that happens, only the Flyers would have 8 million in AHL goal tending…lol

  9. Fedotov…
I don't think he knows how big he is.
    Yet pucks find their way t h r o u g h that immense body and equipment.
He looks stiff in goal and a half a second late on almost every save.
Or is it me and I'm not seeing something you are, Jason?
Yeah I know it's only 4 games, but when does Torts say, "ok, I've seen enough".
I don't think he's good enough, not even for a back up goal tender.

  10. Zamula is a turnover machine. I think Sanheim trips, slips or falls every other shift out on the ice. Drysdale just looks lost sometimes and not physical at all. Risto looks lost sometimes. Johnson is slow. York is average. Defense needs an overhaul. That will automatically make Ersson even better, and he is capable of being absolutely solid.

I’ll save my opinion for the offense another day. So much skill and talent but the way players like Tippet, Cootsy and even TK sometimes can just disappear or never even make a special appearance in a game is pretty pathetic.

  11. I love your branching out ideas Jason. I think it really embraces the fandom and communication.
