They will cool off. Also they played buffalo twice. We all know how good they are.
MoneyPuck shows 79 giveaways from just 7 players (Hamilton 15, Siegenthaler 14, Dillon and JHughes 11, Mercer 10, Tatar 9), with two Penguins tied for 3rd League-wide with 12. So that number may be right, but it's also a tiny bit distorted by NJD being the only team with seven games played. Still, a place to clean up the game, as you can't be doing that against Florida or the Rangers.
Ngl my patience with Meier is wearing thin.
They are beating bottom dwellers, look what happens they actually face playoffs teams. 4-2 loss to TOR massive difference in skill, 4-2 loss to Carolina, a team that permanently outclasses them even when they went to the playoffs. NJD will be middle of the pack at best by January.

Shannon as always thank you for your kind words. Probably not a typo. We do get the puck taken away a lot. Butā¦ key thing not all 4 lines are clicking right now. Bottom 6 have been getting it done while the top 6 are creating more opportunities. Great start we just have to stay healthy and keep it going.
What did the Devils do to you for you to curse them like this Shannon? We haven't beaten Vancouver or Boston yet, leave us be before we tank our record š
I think the main things to note on the Leafs and Canes losses is that we just came back from Prague a few days before the Leafs game. Went 3-0 down pretty quickly before winning the rest of the game 2-1. Carolina was tight and as you see from Markstrom's saves they scored one empty netter.
Well, considering the Devils have played half their schedule already, I'd say they have a built-in buffer. Yeah, they're playing good – not to shade them – but the Devils are already in fifth gear almost in the first turn, while there are teams that've barely played 3 games yet. Are they really better than the Caps, for instance? No way to tell yet. Body of work. Too small a sample size for everybody…
We lost against toronto coming back from europe and against carolina in back to back against a well rested team in carolina. They still need to figure somethings out. But once hughes finds his games other teams gonna be cooked

The Devils roster has individual talent. The team is getting quality goaltending. The season is a marathon. We shall see how their hockey saga unfolds. They have been and should remain a playoff contender.

What it wasn't last year was Lindy Ruff! The top D-Men were BOTH rookies and they both stunk! Throw in the Defensive injustries and they couldn't keep the puck out of their own net.
