No love lost between Winnipeg and Pittsburgh as Sunday night was suppose to be Rutger McGroaty’s first game against his former team… That and more in today’s NHL hockey video!
The one I’ll alway cherish is a shout out from a single fan. Way back when, the Jets were hosting Gretzky and the Kings. Rob Blake was a promising young defensemen who happened to get laid out by one of the Jets. Based on the result, not the actual hit, the Jets player was penalized. As the Kings set up for the PP, guess who skates out to take a point position, Blake of course. After laying on the ice for 5 minutes and practically given last rights, he’s out for the PP? The guy in the crow yells, as clear as day, “Hey Gretzky, Blake’s a better actor than your wife”.
I have no problem with a chant like this being "risky" as I don't think it's really tied to the outcome of this game. It's more directed at Rutger (and his new team) as he's essentially already "lost" — because he's playing down in the AHL and eating his humble pie.
Sullivan refuses to play young guys. They are never "defensively sound" meanwhile Malkin and Letang are turnover machines and Crosby keeps the same stale line mates no matter what.
Where is Rutger? Being screwed by terrible coaching. He should be in the top 6. A top 6 desperate for youth and energy
The last few years when I've gone to Sharks games I've chanted "We want Bedard/Macklin/Hagens," but I don't quite think that's what you were talking about. Also, few if any people join in. If we have the choice based on where they are now I'm also leaning a bit towards Martone for us, maybe Schaefer.
As a jets fan I’m proud if he thinks he’s to good for us then so be it we’ll happily let him realize we were right and see him regret leaving WE DONT NEED RUTGER
Hey, remember when they started chanting "Laine's Better" when they won that game vs the Leafs years ago? This chant is probably going to age just as well as that one lolol
McGroarty got sent down because he's waivers exempt. He was doing well, on the third line with Puljujarvi and Eller, but once Rust came off IR, they had to make a move, and Rutger was the only one who wouldn't have to clear waivers. They'll have similar issues when Blake Lizotte comes back from IR. Defenseman Jack St. Ivany is the only one on the NHL roster who is waivers exempt.
The entire NHL knows that leafs fans and philly fans are the worst by a mile. Teams of do nothings surrounded by a city of do nothings who also happen to be tactless animals
