BAN THE WAVE! Post-Game Reaction: Edmonton Oilers 2, Carolina Hurricanes 3 (OT)

Seriously, ban “The Wave.” The Edmonton Oilers lose 3-2 in overtime to the Carolina Hurricanes. It was a wasted effort from Stuart Skinner who was channeling his inner Dominik Hasek, and Connor McDavid who scored the two goals for the Oilers. #edmontonoilers #oilers #nhl

  1. I feel bad for skinner man, hung out to dry on all 3 goals imo and stood on his head.

  2. Love your post game reactionsšŸ¤£šŸ¤£ I always have so many things I get frustrated about and I'm basically the opposite of biased towards the team but anyway keep it up! Also, I don't get what McDavid did before the OT goal but it is what it is…

  3. as soon as i seen 97 29 2 on that last faceoff i knew it was over. they already played 3:30 of that OT ok ya lets put em out again and hope they dont breakdown defensively……oh crap. reality we didnt deserve the game it should have been 4/5 goals for carolina, how many wide open nets did they just miss like 3? Skinner sliding all over the ice out of position huge rebounds, he didnt lose it alone either not a single player played 60 minutes. This team has zero hitting or grind to them teams just walk around them and nobody fears board play, all show no grit.

  4. +1 for nixing the wave.. not only is it annoying and shows people aren't paying attention, but it's distracting and disruptive for those that are watching the game…

I'm an old man though.. maybe it's just my knees XD

  5. I'm gonna be honest… I can't watch the Oilers right now… I watch hockey to get away from my worldly stresses, and all they do right now is add to my stresses… I know it's just a game, and I shouldn't be so emotionally invested, but I just can't do that… If I don't want to be stressed about the Oilers, I just simply can't pay attention to them.

  6. I would LOVE if you could post the audio of these videos as podcasts to Spotify, apple podcast, ect. Makes it a lot easier to listen, and I really like hearing your insights šŸ™‚

  7. Skinner played above his weight class, you can't put this on him at all. His team needs to help him out.

  8. I totally agree with you about Janmark. Skinner makes that amazing save then Janmark shoots the puck around the boards which was easily picked up by the Carolina defence and then boom in it goes!!

  9. Skinner was a gem! What the hell was with this team hanging him out to dry. Just watch how easy they let Carolina just skate into our zone, and they squeezed us in their zone. We are needing some defense so badly.

  10. Oilers Defence was easy Pickens for elite Hurricanes group. Oilers might have to trade Jeff Skinner for a defenceman. Losing Holloway and Broberg and Ceci is proving costly.

  11. McDavid showed that he can basically score on demand when he just shoots it himself. Why bother passing to his lesser lights? I knowā€¦I know. Heā€™s being a good teammate and trying to jumpstart his wingers, but come on. Win the game first.
Agree re: scratch Nurse. Let him ponder his future from the press box.

  12. You feel the same way about the wave as I do when the fans start getting on the other goalie. It always seems to make them play amazing and I hate it.

  13. Dont count your Chickens before they hatch, NEVER CELEBRATE BEFORE THE GAME IS WON. I was really frustrated in this game man, I was absolutely devastated for Stu. He played his heart out.

  14. Aside from "the wave," the crowd taunting the goalie's name slowly is kinda bad luck. Unless the home team is up by 5 šŸ˜. Skinner surely silenced all the haters tonight.

  15. This was the most electric and also the most frustrating game all season. WHY canā€™t these guys just WIN? Something always seems to go wrong. Itā€™s so hard to be a fan of this franchise.

  16. The entire hockey world outside of the oilers office (and some fans I guess) saw the need to bolster the defensive side of the game. What do they do? Well what they always do of course. Sign more forwards lol.

Why canā€™t this team all play well at the same time? Skinner gets hot and the team lets him down.

  17. I TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU! I was concerned already at 2-1 goal and see no reason whatsoever for a wave, unless it is 8-1 as you said. Also, despite not trusting Stu, he was a rock in this game, agreed. However the problem you mention with the 'wave', is bigger in general in the North-American Sports-Culture, including unfortunately in the NHL and in Edmonton/Rogers Place. I do not see it as appropriate not even to have loud music DURING THE GAME and when the ref is stopping the game, IT TAKES AWAY FROM THE SPORT event, from the real-fan concentration on the game, to start with. Even much worse, the 'yelling young lady' in the Rogers Place in Edmonton, doing all sorts of funny/happy games when it is say 4-0 for the Jets, or even after they just scored she comes and yells about some happy game as if that is my happiest day of my life??? The show 'takes precedence' over the (real) FANs and PLAYERs who may be down, thinking, trying to get out of a pit in their thoughts and you bombard them with hard-rock and some happy 'game' in the 'stands'???

  18. Putting inappropriate 'show' when Oilers are not doing well aside, I am starting to believe that the Oilers (Players) given last 2+ games where they can't show good hockey for more than ~30 minutes, shows that A) many are physically not top fit after last long season (despite declarations otherwise) and B) some are hurt, and the Oilers are hiding it still, such as Draisaitl, possibly McDavid, etc. We've been outskated heavily by the rest teams, most of them. Not talking about speed, overall physical combat.

  19. Keep the faith! This was an excellent game, one of the best if seen so far this season… the victories will come!

  20. I'm a notorious Stu criticizer, but I really feel bad for him this game. He gave it his all, played exceptionally, and it still wasn't enough with this team. So disappointing from the top players. And I feel bad for Ty, he was finally starting to get solid and gain confidence.

  21. They just left skinner out to die in that overtime goal. A 2 on 1 When you have mcdavid, bouchard and draisaitl all on the ice. Did they just forget about the puck??? Just disappointing.

  22. I've been saying it for over a year: signing Drai is a mistake. He's not worth the money, he's lazy, and the fans are going to be all over him for it since this fan base is rabid

  23. You sound like one of those guys who hates Halloween because of the Trick or Treaters making too much damn noise lol and then you punish them with Circus Peanuts.
