On yet another note, I’m watching the Oilers v Hurricanes game and it’s refreshing to watch competitive hockey again after last nights “performance.” 20 min in and both of these teams are animals.

my thing for the top 6 on offense, is they're always looking for the pretty, tic tac toe goals. you don't score those goals very much in the playoffs unless your offense is super elite. it seems like we're trying to replicate the maple leafs at this point. no net front presence, no taking away the eyes of the tendy. you don't always need the perfect shot to beat a good goalie

you should be very concerned bc it's not a fluke. the team is being coached to play 5v5 like a penalty kill.
I still think you give this team an elite 2nd line center and another top 4 defenceman. You'd have a drastically different team.
team corsi at even strength is like 40%. Lalonde has the offense playing penalty kill all the time, dump and chase (ie turnovers on purpose), and in the analytics he's getting penalty kill numbers as a result.
it's about the worst coaching i've ever seen.
"Low Energy" Lalonde, that's what we like to call him.
The Wings have faced Blomquist (>.900 sv%), Saros, Shesterkin, Quick, Saros, and Sorokin. That is a murderer's row of goaltenders with teams that aren't scrubs in front of them. Let's get a larger sample size.

Not worried about offense. Everyone is overstating the emphasis on defense and turning the lack of production into a coaching issue. The same coaching talks about playing with possession. Possession is not dump and chase. Even the couch GMs and head coaches in the comments know this team isn’t sized for that game. The problem is clearing our zone and transition. When you don’t get out of your zone until 1 minute into your shift you’re going to dump and change. The problem is still team defense and exiting our zone. It will improve. Kane’s frustration is with the team play not coaching.
