Marchand Speaks About Montgomery | Lineup Changes

Marchand Speaks About Montgomery | Lineup Changes

The Boston Bruins are home, which gave Brad Marchand a chance to speak to the media for the first time since the so-called incident in Utah between him and coach Jim Montgomery.

Marchand and Monty spoke to the media and looked to be on the same page regarding the matter.

Monty throws the lines into a blender again ahead of their matchup against the Dallas Stars.

  1. Why would we break up the fourth line it just makes no sense. He’s not trying to wake anybody up like putting with Marchand with the top line, he’s just taking established chemistry and throwing it away? Maybe trying to see if it’s Koepke or maybe the other two can wake up Brazeau? I don’t get it

  2. Whether Monty chewing him out or something else ends up being the reason Marchand turns it around, doesn't matter to me. I liked Marchand's response.

  3. marchand took another bullet for monty. marchand has not had a great start to the year, but he is coming back from three surgeries, so that may be having some effect. if monty wants to hold players accountable for shaky play, how about defensive stiffs carlo and hamphus, both veterans of many years ? the fact is monty wanted to use marchand's position of respect in the locker room and show the other players — if coach yells at marchy, well i better play better, too ! the only problem is they lost to a team in existence for one week and then gave up 40 shots in a shutout curb stomping to a winless team. they have beaten only the weakest teams in the league and their play is alarming. sloppy turnovers and the most penalties in the league. bad positional play and no hitting in the defensive end. offensive zone penalties. now giving up lots of shots and goals. still, monty cannot coach a line change, giving up the game winner to florida last monday on a botched line change after setting the playoff record for too many men penalties with 7 in 13 games. can monty slap himself in the head ? if not, i'll do it. monty cannot fix chronic coachable problems and the ship is taking on water and listing to starboard. all the nice talk in the world by monty and marchand cannot hide the fact this is a badly constructed team with a coach that can't fix problems. their shortcomings are all obvious at the same time now and they are in trouble. two more weeks of this crap and we'll see charlie jacobs soon at the vault to make sure the cash is still coming in.

  4. Shake up is ok by me rewards are like treats for being good. Being demoted might light a fire. Koepke has been a bright spot.
We have scored just 1 goal in the last two games combined. It's worth a try. Go Bruins.

  5. Let's be honest, the ones "making a big deal" out of the bench incident are the Media, not the fans. Our Media are so dishonest, they blame it on "social media"

  6. Didn’t think marchy would have an issue.:wish Monty would call pasta out on his turnovers which are many!! Think Monty is feeling the stress of contract ..End of the day it’s over move on

  7. Loved how Marchand responded "That's a thing?" to the reporter asking about the yelling & nudge from Monty. As if the man hasn't experienced that kind of stuff from his coaches his whole life. lol

  8. I'm not crazy about breaking up the fourth line But …the other lines are Not working, so desperate times call for desperate measures. Break up the first line 😂 so sad. Keep on shaking itup until they mostly work.😉

  9. Mr Marchand, thank you so much for just being you. I felt there was nothing about nothing but I was getting nervous about all the stuff that was being said about this. I have been a Bruins fan all my life. I live for the Bruins. I love the Bruins. West Coast bias here! ❤

  10. What is happening between them behind closed doors. Of course Marchand is gonna take the high road. He is the captain.

  11. To come out and admit you messed up and own up to it, are the makings of a true leader. Especially, when they can accept getting chewed out by the coach.

  12. I hope they don’t send Lohrei down because of his defense. He’ll get there. It’s just going to take a little more time. It’s not like the team as a whole are all off and running.

  13. Well, Marchand is definitely the bigger man and doing what is best for his team. I agree there has to be accountability and Marchand has never tried to dodge that. Huge respect for him! Monty on the other hand, was very uncomfortable in his news conference. I guess he must be feeling the heat.

  14. The first time Montgomery acts like a real coach in Boston in over 2 years and we get upset with him. If that's how Marchand feels, then who cares? Of all players in the NHL, Marchand is the one that should be able to handle it. Also, it's Wotherspoon, not Witherspoon.

  15. typical media trying to stir up something that isnt there, they are grown men, and thats what men do, have a disagreement and then move on.. nothing personal its a job

  16. we all knew he was gonna brush it off cause he was from a generation who didn't give af about this being born in 1988 and all. This new generation is nothing but soft cupcakes who lack accountability.

  17. Great comments by both. The bottom line is be accountable as a player, hold ALL players accountable as a coach. And I agree on your comment about holding C’s to a higher standard.

As far as the poke, context is everything. Watch the taps when they score goals, make clutch plays, swarm the goalie after the game. Same applies on the “wake up” calls. If you can’t see the difference between that and a kick or sucker punch get out of the sport and go play a harp.

  18. As captain of this club, Marchand knows there's a certain standard to uphold set by those who came before him. I'd expect nothing less from him. The B's are off to a bumpy start with several new faces. Right now, seems like right now, each player is trying to be the one who makes a big play instead of the team playing with cohesion. Once they reduce making themselves active participants in their own azz whuppin with penalties, erractic D- zone coverage and crashing the other crease trying to create scoring chances, they'll straighten out. 🤜🏾🤛🏾

  19. I hate the ex drunk with a passion .Ex drunk go home . Pour Tous Les teteux qui l' appelle Monty , aretter il n'est pas votre Ami .

  20. Sometimes you have to take a step back and realize that these phones/devices allows everyone to chime in and make a mountain out of a mole hill in real time. Elliotte Friedman and the like literally make a living off being gossip queens…@bruinsdiehards excluded, of course 🤭

  21. Need more non chalant responses to snowflake bs like this…. bury this weak ass modern BS … and start getting life back as it should be.

  22. No Disrespect but I think the whole country needs to take a breath and get back to playing Hockey and the other sports.I been a Bruins fan, I live in Boston, since I was a kid and I'm 70 yrs old. I was thinking they should fire Montie till I watched this Good Video—–Lets go back to old time hockey. Good video
