There is definitely tension. It seems Roy isn't thrilled about the latest moves, in particular Engvall and Martin. Paraphrasing what Roy said, it was "LOU feels…LOU thinks". I wasn't shocked about Engvall, considering our total lack of options (thanks Yoda), but signing Martin now is bizarre. Foudy never got a chance. IMO, Lou was comfortable with the Trotz system but is a bit impatient with Roy' vision of more offense. There is NO WAY Roy chooses Martin in without some pressure from above. The whole thing is hinky as hell.
It’s called not winning. It will do that for you. But what does Roy want the team to do?
haha roy must be tired of this old fossil's rosterbation and lack of upgrades. Roy is impulsive, hot head stubborn and dealing with a gm who is just as stubborn. May not be a match made in heaven. Roy probably pining for gm spot walking out on isles less than a year on the job wouldn't surprize me given hopeless state of isle roster and no hope to improve things. When louzer gm sticks you with 18 as call-up because he is too expensive for ahl and useless maybe it is time to call it quits. Roy walked out on av's-wouldn't shock me once again if he did the same to louzer. His line juggling doesn't work. Changing up style to faster more up tempo does no good when isles have no finishers. Outside of 30 keeping isles in games only so much roy can do with weak roster louzer believes is a contender, And bringing back louzer fav 17 may not have sat well with roy. I'd fire louzer and give roy the gm spot NOW but that wont happen.
And another lost weekend. First isles were lucky not to settle for the loser pt. vs. nj that they deserved after blowing another late lead. Only won because 30 was better than nj goalie. Then cats just played with isles spotting them a 3-0 lead then just took over winning going away 6-3 and making 40 look bad as well. One line only scoring 2 g as isle first g from a d man, 25, scored the other goal was only bright spot. Isles are old and creaking at the seams already. Isles need a stick of dynamite set off on them. Roy must see how hopeless things are less than a year on the job and having to deal with the old stubborn fossil as well. Roy may have used isles to get back to nhl. His dream job is with habs. And louzer can go back as coach with stevens and oates at his side. That would be funny to see.
i watched on the islander website when roy said that 'LOU feels " so it is clear that roy doesnt agree with lou and I 100% AGREE WITH ROY. Now when varlamov was run into in the florida game NOBODY came to help varlamov THAT IS UNACCEPTABLE. So to a degree i do agree with lou that a physical presence is needed and thus the martin signing can somewhat be justified. BUT engvall and fasching? Come on engvall has ZERO heart and passion he is a total dud soft as a marshmallow never plays with any effort. He does have nhl talent no question, i think thats what lou saw in him the problem is he plays with ZERO effort and doesnt give it his all every shift he is a floater.ON A SIDE NOTE: Where are the owners. why dont they every say anything about the team ?
This is like a communist north korea regime.I thought the secrecy and very discreet ways of wang/snow were over but its becoming VERY CLEAR the current owners are all about the money and couldn't care less about this team. If they give lou lamoriello the funds to operate how he feels for thats absolutely great because we definetly need money to ice the best product something which wang never did ….BUT YOU ALSO NEED COMPETENT PEOPLE IN THERE AND LOU IS NO LONGER COMPETENT. The owners need to be around and show they are instead of this communist way of doing things….. we are the freaking ones THAT PAY. TO THE OWNERS: For the love of god thats great your spending money on players and the team BUT the money should be spent correctly and for that YOU NEED TO HIRE THE RIGHT PEOPLE TO RUN THE HOCKEY CLUB.LOU IS NOT THE RIGHT MAN ANYMORE.
