  1. Brad Marchand was never a leader to begin with. He may be great at speaking off the ice, but look what he is doing on the ice. Taking stupid penalties, cross checking people, slashing people, fighting people. Not a leader

  2. I think and maybe Brick mentioned it, but the constant line flipping and defense changes is ridiculous, no chemistry

  3. I can't remember the last time a Bruins team was this difficult to watch. Korpi deserved a better fate for his performance in that game.

  4. FREAKING F I R E FREAKING M O N T G O M E R Y

Monty has zero clue what to do. He should have been fired 2 years ago. When a team plays like this, it's because the leadership is not good enough. The players are all better than this and we are well aware of it. Last year Edmonton was playing just as bad, and they brought in a new coach and went on a near record breaking run. A team is only as good a the leader. Monty has no answers. They were boo'd last time too against Toronto guys. Where were you? Brian gets it. If the team plays like this for much longer, we're not even making the playoffs. This is a team that has sold out every game for years and years, If the fans boo, it's because the team is trash. I've watched almost every B's game since 1994 when I was just 9 years old. I don't remember those first years because I was too young, but as far as I can remember, this team is headed to the Joe Thornton era of struggling to be a .500 team. This will continue until changes are made. There are big problems here and it starts at the top. The team is not responding to any changes that Monty makes. He has had the same answer for the past 3 years. ''It's not good enough. There is not enough effort out there.'' He is not able to motivate the team. All he does is move the players around. Sweeney has added players where we needed them, yet they are getting worse.
We are picking away at symptoms. Bad power play. Bad movement. Low energy. Booing fans. McAvoy is not playing good. Marchand is not playing good. They are not trying hard enough. Guys… there are SYMPTOMS of a larger problem. What is the larger problem? POOR LEADERSHIP. What is the solution to poor leadership? BETTER LEADERSHIP. How do you get better leadership? NEW LEADERSHIP. How do you get new leadership? CHANGE LEADERSHIP.
This isn't working. The problem is at the top. The energy is missing. These are coaching and management problems. Monty has had 2 years at this team. The first year, he said it himself, ''This is the easiest team to coach ever! All I do is stand here and let you guys have fun!'' That year goes unreal, then in the playoffs, Ullmark is hurt and his range of movement is limited and his speed is slowed. This was Monty's first major test all year, what did he do? He left a slow and injured goalie in net for 2.2 games and left Swayman on the bench. THAT IS A COACHING FAILURE.

Yes Scott, Monty is a good coach, but he's not a good coach for this team. Last year was the farthest this team will get under Monty. It's a miracle we even beat Toronto last year.

  5. 38:30 I like the wingers being on the off-hand, but the problem is they aren't moving, which you guys mentioned before. So they're painfully predictable trying to set up for a one-timer. The umbrella also leaves them vulnerable for turnovers. I'm not a fan of that setup with this team and with McAvoy overthinking everything and being intimidated easily. Two on the point, firing shots, one in front of the net, off-hand wingers for rebounds. Get McAvoy out of there, the two on the point should be players that have the hard accurate shots that can be kept low for deflections and rebounds. Just my three fitty…

  6. Something positive here… I just wanna say that you guys have the best Bruins podcast/show, bar none. Nothing pretentious here. No fake YouTube voices. Just solid hockey talk and good camaraderie among you three. I tried listening to about 5 other Bruins shows and had to shut them off within 5 minutes. So thank you guys for doing such a great job. Long live the Skate Pod!

  7. I can't help but constantly think that splitting up Ullmark and Swayman was a massive mistake, and of course I fully understand the salary cap implications of keeping TWO high priced goaltenders when teams can obviously only afford one (and not only in terms of salary but also in sufficient playing time for each). The fact Ullmark has improved Ottawa's record dramatically from past versions of that horrid team only reinforces my take. I know there probably was no solution to it except let one of the goalies go, but in my humble opinion this is the reason we just don't look like a similar team to the past two years' version which who were such a joy to watch, and I'd keep watching long after the horn sounded just to see that classic Sway-Ull embrace.

  8. This team is just too slow. Phily is not a great team, but they are young and quick. This is a fast league and we are getting left behind.

  9. I would also say that the new guys with the big contracts have hurt the team more than help them, and there is no chemistry. I believe they are demoralized. Maybe time for a new coach. The whole team is struggling and it feels like they are quitting. Time to shake things up.

  10. I don't think that it's a coincidence that the team's top 2 centers got the least amount of time in the exhibition season. That has really hurt chemistry for the top lines. Monty changing them up so much doesn't help.

That all being said, it's only been 10 games and this team isn't built for the regular season anyway.

I do agree that all the players need a meaner edge, especially Frederick and all the defensemen. You don't win the Stanley Cup being passive.

  11. As I’ve said in prior comments, the Bs organization is fixated on making the playoffs every year rather than build a consistent winner from the ground up and go through some potential lean times, like they did back in the years prior to winning their last cup. As a result they’re parachuting in new players year in and year out. That lack of chemistry is how you get a playoff team that fizzled against an 8th seed in 2023, a playoff team that can’t muster more than a handful of shots a game in 2024, and how you have the mess you’re in now. The Bs refuse to live by the team building norms that exist a salary cap world their ownership created.

  12. Great episode as always.

Here's a contrarian thought to the criticism about lack of confidence.

Could it be the opposite? Is it possible there is a subconscious overconfidence given the regular season success in the past couple of years?

It would explain why the coach's confidence message is not landing right.

  13. I was at the game and was sitting just to the right of you, Bridgette,n the next section over. Never seen someone leave their seat so quick after a loss. That game was absolutely brutal to watch, especially that 5 on 3. But within 2 seconds of the horn sounding the end of the 3rd, Bridgette was out. Hahaha. You may not have booo'd, but you DIPPED. lol
