Old Friends Pete DeBoer and Paul Maurice Meet in Finland with Dallas Stars and Florida Panthers



Florida Panthers coach Paul Maurice and Dallas Stars coach Pete DeBoer have been friends since they played junior hockey together in 1988.

The two face off again in the NHL Global Series in Tampere on Friday and Saturday.

Florida has been to the Stanley Cup Final the past two years, winning it in 2024; Dallas has made it to the Western Conference final the past two seasons.

Monday, the Panthers led 2-0 on goals from Jesper Boqvist and Sam Reinhart; Carter Verhaeghe scored the game-winning goal in the second.

Sam Bennett and Sasha Barkov scored in the third.

Barkov played after missing the previous eight games — and will play two games against the Dallas Stars in his hometown of Tampere, Finland, later this week.

Sergei Bobrovsky had 26 saves in his 401st NHL win.
