GAME RECAP: Penguins at Golden Knights (01.05.23) | Ty Smith's First Goal in Black and Gold

Things got off to a quick start in Vegas for the home team. Former Penguins forward and Stanley Cup Champion Phil Kessel got things rolling, giving the Golden Knights a 1-0 edge under two minutes into the contest. Shortly after that, Eichel notched his 14th of the season, and Stephenson would add one more before the conclusion of the period. Vegas would go to the intermission with a 3-0 lead. 11 seconds before the end of the 2nd period, Stone found the back of the net, giving the Golden Knights a 4-0 lead. In the final period, Ty Smith scored his first goal as a member of the Penguins, eliminating Vegas netminder Adin Hill’s bid for a shutout. Cotter got that tally back for the home team, however, making things 5-1. Captain Sidney Crosby scored his 20th of the season shortly before the end of regulation after taking a hit, skating back around the net, and getting a feed from Rakell backdoor. Jake Guentzel was the player who passed the puck to Rakell, and this play marked Guentzel’s 200th career assist.

  1. Дерьмовая игра от пингвинов! Когда это закончится!!!! Шесть поражений в последних шести играх!!!! Надоело!! Мы так в ПО не попадём!

  2. If it takes an entire 1st period and to be down 0-3 before making an honest effort in this game….then drastic changes may need to happen to this team. I see no fire left in this squad. Congratulations Ty on your first goal as a Pen but the best days for this team seem to be fading away. The defense is absolutely horrid and offense looks all but predictable, tired and uninspired. Mistake after Mistake. Turnover after Turnover. Such a waste to have this much individual talent on one team with very little continuity. I struggle to see this team even making the playoffs this year after yet another long losing streak. Very disappointing. 😒

  3. the pens have little to no depth, and we have tied our own hands with the re-signings of Malkin and Letang, and the money given to Rakell and Rust. Not too mention all the draft picks and prospects we have traded away over the last 15 or so years. which im not too upset about considering we have won 3 cups over that time.

  4. DeSmith in goal… that's all I needed to see. Another loss, what is he now, 4 wins out of 14 starts?

  5. You guys have to stop losing what`s going on 7 loss in a row change your line and change that goaler we need Fleury back in our net…

  6. The Pittsburgh Penguins have helped me more than my therapist. Especially Bryan Rust and Sidney Crosby so shout out to all of you but especially those two players I mentioned.
