  1. Is it not a coincidence that this ref is the one who robbed the devils against the leafs in the midst of their 13 game win streak??

  2. As a Hurricanes fan…. This was a horrible call. It's either tripping or embellishment, call it one way or the other, in this case it should just be tripping. And then it lead to the crazy sequence of penalties afterwards.

  3. That’s just ridiculous, awful refereeing. The idea of ‘not wanting to influence the game’ is stupid – if one team does something against the rules, punish them, that’s your job. They’ve earned their disadvantage, don’t arbitrarily punish the other team to keep things ‘equal’.

  4. That’s 100% embellishment. The guy drops straight down when he felt the stick there. You don’t fall straight down when tripped, you fall forward. The Carolina player had 1 hand on his stick, with his arm away from his body. Almost impossible to pull an NHL player down like that, even with the stick between his legs (which it barely was).
Should have been no call on Carolina guy.

  5. Why did they two of the worst jerseys in the league out there at the same time. Should've done Canes home vs. Devils RR

  6. Not embellishment. The officials should not be paid as they failed to actually do their job.

  7. embellishment for 110kg guys with .25" of contact on the playing surface who, while competing, have wildly varying degrees of ankle flexibility and depend on their legs should be replay-assisted only. Those calls, anymore, arent doing what theyre supposed to do be doing.. there's too much to officiate as it is.

  8. I am normally completely for embellishment penalties, but I have no idea what was embellished here. Dude took a stick between his legs, went down, immediately came back up to continue the play.

  9. This is exactly why refs are usually so hesitant to call embellishment or diving penalties, because you end up with situations like this.

  10. Yeah bad call, no penalty makes more sense than both getting a penalty (even though it was a clear tripping penalty)
