Cherry vs Douglas HIGHLIGHTS: April 4, 2017 – PBC on FS1

Experienced veteran Edner Cherry faced off against young, rugged Omar Douglas in a 10-round super featherweight bout live at the Sands Bethlehem Events Center in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. The fight was broadcast live on FS1 as part of the Premier Boxing Champions series.

This 130-pound throwdown was packed with flurries of punches and great action from both fighters. While Cherry and Douglas both had their moments of aggressiveness and dominance, the fight was very evenly matched overall.

Cherry would often try to show his dominance early in the round by coming out with fists flying while Douglas would react to Cherry’s advances by leveraging his counter punching ability.

The fight went the distance, and by the 10th and final round, fans had Douglas up by 3 points. The judges, however, did not agree and awarded Cherry with a unanimous decision victory. Cherry’s record advances to 36-7-2 (19 KOs).

  1. Good Fight seems like Cherry was rewarded for not getting previous Decisions thought Douglas won this one

  2. Props to Douglas his last 3 fights have been against stiff opposition and he gave them all hell and even dropped the best one of them (Fortuna). All 3 fights could have gone either way too.

  3. Damn respect to Omar for fighting two tough back to back fights. Damn he may be finished before he even got started.
