What Erik Karlsson is doing is INCREDIBLE…

Erik Karlsson is riding a 14 game point streak with the San Jose Sharks & he’s proving everybody wrong with his play this year. After a long list of injuries & personal obstacles, everyone thought we had seen the best of Karlsson, but that doesn’t seem to be the case. This is why.

  1. I still want him gone, but for a completely different reason. He deserves a shot at the Cup. He’s been through a lot the last few years and now that he seems to be back to his former self and on pace to destroy his career numbers in goals, assists and points, he should be on a contending team. He could help a lot of teams. He won’t win anything in San Jose unless by some chance they become a contender in 5 years lol. I think it’ll get much worse before it gets better. They might not make the playoffs at all this decade.

  2. As a Sharks fan since the beginning, I'm hoping they trade Karlsson this year. That big contract is hanging over the team like an albatross. It would be fine if they were winning, but to have Karlsson scoring so much and still have the team in the dumpster and part of the Connor Bedard sweepstakes shows that something is deeply wrong with the team as currently constructed. Perhaps we can get some draft picks to help with a rebuild. My problem with Karlsson is that he is a good scoring defenseman, but he is bad defensively. He has one of the highest point totals in the league right now, yet he has a negative plus/minus last I checked. Again, that's fine if the team is ultimately winning, but we're scrapping the bottom of the barrel with a loss to the Ducks the other night, one of the few teams with a worse record than us. And injury prone Karlsson is just another one away from becoming an overpaid paper weight. I say get rid of him now while he has a lot of value. Some team looking to make a run at the cup should want him. What we need is a complete overhaul.

  3. Karlsson is really good when the team is going nowhere with no pressure and like most of swedish players he crumbled under pressure… All Swedish no finish

  4. Erik Karlsson is a HUGE!! defensive liability So whats changed? he has no pressure to play defence. He will be -20 -25 , by the end of the season. You guys think just because he gets a bunch of nothing points, he's incredible? Learn the game!!! must be nice to go out every game, with no pressure whatsoever? San Jose is so far out of it, he can just go out and do whatever he wants! lol

  5. He is playing great, with a lot of giveaways unfortunately. I’m conflicted since I want to increase the chances of winning the lottery

  6. i'm a habs fan … but i have my top favorite players in every team.. and erik is on it ! he always been special and i'm happy to see him shine again !

  7. He kinda reminds me of Jager I can’t play till he was like 47 and he at 47 he wasn’t that slow yet he reminds me of him because he never slows down it’s a shame we don’t get to see Jager for one more year

  8. And you know it’s sad the Canucks good trade it for him now it’s gonna be impossible for anyone to trade for him he’s on pace for the best year of his entire career at 32 he’s not going anywhere anytime soon

  9. He has a career +/- rating of -82. Points don't make you a good d man, defense does. Only plebs think points matter for d men. Maybe he's not on that bad of a team, maybe he's the reason why the team is losing and giving up so many goals? The ONLY thing that matters is winning.

  10. Honestly this is just the old Erik Karlsson that I’m sure a lot of younger guys almost forgot about. He use to do this with the Sens for quite a few seasons. The problem is….he’s been given a free reign because SJ is so bad right now. He won’t be able to do this when the teams actually trying to rebuild and win.

  11. Him or Dahlin, Makar probably wont get top 3.
Both play for weaker teams, SJ extremely weak, yet dominating.

  12. I would love for Yzerman to try to get him. Redwings need a goal scoring boost big time.

  13. As a leafs fan, I was hoping they would got him when they were shopping. But good for him either way!

  14. Love the fact you brought up how good karlsson is at getting pucks on net! WiFi on the Habs can’t make a outlet pass but is excellent at getting picks to the net and is leading all rookie defenseman with goals which is pretty insane for a guy that plays 15 min a night and is a stay at home defenseman

  15. I hate when good players take shit for a slump. The media makes us think players must perform at 100, every game. These are people too. They are worked and worn down. They endure highs, lows, injury, emotions. I've never been a big fan of ek, but he's been fantastic and a pleasure to follow

  16. I was a sens fan around the time and I love Erik when he was on the sens and also he is playing on basically 1 leg

  17. I don't think it is mentioned enough, this is the first season without Brent Burns as the "go to" defenseman for San Jose. Ever since Karlsson went to San Jose and shared the spotlight with Burns he saw a dip in his play, as soon as Burns is taken out of the picture Karlsson is back being a leader and driving the play.
Also, so far he seems to do better on bad teams lol..

  18. what a phenomenal season. he's not a lock for Norris – Dahlin will chase him the entire season.

  19. Well, saying someone is a lock for the Norris when there is still half a season left to be played would be kind of stupid, but he's clearly the frontrunner at this point. If he can keep this pace up for the second half of the season, he should win it.

  20. The way to go is take as many offensive chances as possible in practice and high school hockey with older kids is a great oppertunity to try stuff at high enough pace and to learn to see mistakes and overcommitments from forecheckers.
