Montreal Canadiens prospects on the move, and has Joel Armia's hot streak made him tradeable?

Inside today’s Locked on Canadiens

Following the end of the World Juniors tournament the Montreal Canadiens saw two of their prospects traded in their respective junior leagues! Scott lays out the moves that sent Owen Beck to the Peterborough Petes in the OHL, and Riley Kidney to the Gatineau Olympiques in the QMJHL. Also out west, Jared Davidson and the Seattle Thunderbirds appear primed to receive a major boost as well!

Then it’s time for Three Up, Three Down!

On the down list this week for Scott is Michael Pezzetta whose lack of discipline is endangering his lineup spot going forward, but also Martin St-Louis finds himself on the down list too as he continues to learn the nuances that come with NHL coaching jobs. Finally, while the hosts love Brendan Gallagher’s efforts every night, is his injury history turning his contract into a total anchor, or can it be saved?

On the up list though is of course the suddenly red-hot Joel Armia who is raising not only his trade value, but also the value of his linemate Evgenii Dadonov as well! Also on the rise is the unstoppable Small Goals Boy, Cole Caufield who continues to make history with his goal-scoring pace for the Habs. Also rounding out the three is Rafaël Harvey-Pinard, who has been at the forefront of the Laval Rocket’s rebounding form to start the new year.

  1. Questions: The single oddest thing I’ve found as an Englishman now following hockey is the joy at losing and anger I see at winning because of the ‘tank’. It’s so alien to me to want to lose. So I’m trying to get my head around how this draft lottery and odds work. Can you explain it please. Why doesn’t everyone who isn’t out of the playoffs get the same exact odds to draw Bedard to stop this nonsense? Or why not give those who place in the playoff positions a higher cap for the following year? I mean I watched a fantastic last two periods against the Blues, have a look on twitter and it’s nothing but outrage that they didn’t lose. Is this what happens when you don’t have relegation from leagues and greater perks for winning? Great show as ever. Thanks for your efforts, much appreciated 🙂
