Ray Ferraro on if Connor Bedard is a generational talent, Canucks re-signing Bo Horvat

Ray Ferraro (Ray & Dregs Hockey Podcast) stops by to discuss the World Juniors, the gold-medal game and (naturally) Connor Bedard. Ray tells us who Bedard reminds him of and forecasts his NHL career, as well as discussing the other particulars (Shane Wright and Dylan Guenther) from Canada’s win over Czechia. We then get into the Canucks and discuss the idea of the organization re-signing captain Bo Horvat, the tight cap situation in Vancouver and around the league. #Canucks #NHL #WorldJuniors #VancouverCanucks #Vancouver #ConnorBedard

  1. It’s not as hard to score in the NHL as it used to be. There have been many 30 goal scorers these last few years compared to 4 or 5 years ago. Theresa lot of scoring talent in the NHL right now

  2. For generational in the NHL I'd put it on 10-15 years, I'd have to look at stats to pin down an exact number.

  3. Canucks won't get Berdard eastcoast team Montreal Buffalo New Jersey last Draft picks rounds ,Chicago Columbus will have Berdard canucks just Bad Luck

  4. Chicago Columbus Aniehiem fronts %runners Buffalo Montreal New Jersey got there first round picks? East coast again. Canucks never

  5. Canuck Fans: There's no way the Kraken will have a playoff team anytime soon.

    Ron Francis: Hold My Beer.

  6. I think Bedard is an amped Marty St. Louis. St. Louis had a career, 1000+ points, a Stanley Cup, all at 5"8" when the smaller player had a tougher time in the League. Bedard is listed as 5'10" but that seems a bit generous. Dionne is a high standard with his 1771 points.

Bedard will obviously go 1st over all in this draft and he probably winds up in Chicago(?) with Toews and Kane to bring him along once he's 19. I hope Chicago gives him one more run in the WJC. He can finish his career in the U20 somewhere north of 50 points given that opportunity. A scoring record that only the next real generational talent can hope to threaten. I suppose the Forsberg comparison is obvious, but Bedard is on 34 points in 2 tournaments at 16 and 17, not 18 and 19.

  7. I don't know why the World Junior has never been hosted in Michigan. Close to the border, top 3 or 4 hockey state in the US, several arenas that are big enough to host one of the groups (Grand Rapids, Michigan State, Michigan, Saginaw,) as well as the Red Wings arena obviously for the elimination round. Attendance would be good. I would prefer Michigan as opposed to Buffalo again.

  8. Ray, you can move 10 spots, so if the Red Wings are 11th in the lottery standings, they can win and move to 1.
