In this video, we’ll be taking a look at the New York Rangers prospect pool, and ranking select players on a tier list, ranging from Franchise to AHL Regular athletes. Who are the most valuable prospects in the system? Is Igor Shesterkin on that list? What about K’Andre Miller, Lauri Pajuniemi, Nils Lundkvist, or Lias Andersson? Is Zachary Jones the real deal, and what’s up with Tyler Wall? These questions and more will be answered in this prospects tier list video.

  1. I feel like Lias Andersson will be a number 3 center for the Rangers behind Zibanejad and Strome maybe? Although if Andersson can be a number 2 center it just makes this team much better

  2. Anyone that says Kravtsov doesn't have elite potential is playing victim to the recency bias. Yes, this year wasn't particularly great, but he showed the flashes, and was starting to come to his own before the season was paused. He can still be a future top-line player or at very least a top 6 forward with a high production rate. He could still very well start next season in the NHL, or if not, start the year in the AHL, but won't be long before he gets a full-time call up

  3. For me, it's wait and see on K'Andre Miller. I'm thinking bottom 4 until he proves otherwise. Still an NHLer!

  4. Okay. Not bad but—Lindgren paired with Fox most of the year and IMO he's already the best Rangers left side defenseman. I don't know who wanted to send him down. Really was there anyone? You're right on Shesterkin–he's a stud. Nils Lundkvist is also fantastic. He is the closest to making it of their prospects IMO. Kravtsov needs to fill out and get stronger. I expect a better year next year (that's if there is one). K'Andre I think is going to need some time in Hartford. He should be an excellent player though. As for Lias I can see him becoming a good 3rd line wing. He doesn't have the skill to break into the Rangers top 6 and his skating is kind of average. It's what holds him back. Gauthier's a great skater and has tremendous size–I don't see him as a top 6 forward either but he has a very good shot at making the next Rangers team out of camp.

I'd rank Jones, Robertson, Henriksson and Barron next and then Pajuniemi. Hajek is still interesting. Very good skater and handles the puck well–the thing is even with those abilities he's not been able to carry his two way game from the CHL to the pros whether AHL or NHL and for the Rangers last year he wilted under a heavy forecheck. He should become an NHL defenseman but maybe a bottom pairing guy.

As far as the NCAA guys they could all turn out well. Richards played for Minnesota-Duluth and won league honors for his defensive play as a center two years in a row. His team also won two NCAA championships in his three years and the third year play was suspended. Duluth rollls lines and their players don't always put up big numbers but that is a well coached team and Richards was a standout for them. Like Rueschoff's and Edstrom's size–speaking of which Tim Gettinger. These are all 6'6, 6'7 guys who skate pretty well. I see Gettinger's niche as a 4th liner who has enough skill to bang in a goal here and there and should be a solid PK'er. Gross you're overrating a bit.

  5. Love the collaboration and thought this was the wrong channel. NYR has lots o prospects, but not many high end players.

  6. Notable young players that are the same age of these prospects (Kakko, Chytil, Fox) that are not in the video but easily would fall under Elite(KK), Elite/Top6(Chytil), and Elite/Franchise(Foxy) respectively imo.

  7. I love Ryan Lindgren. He's got heart, and he would definitely be willing to stand up for himself and his teammates. A good quality to have for a successful team.

  8. Lias is in the process of destroying his career. 21 years old already, ran off to Sweeden after pitching a fit about being sent to Hartford and is known to be a pre madonna.

He might not make it back to the NHL in the Rangers organization which means it would be a few years still for him to go UFA and hook up with another team or get traded.

Its a shame but teams generally aren't going to make space for a 25 year old "prospect" with attitude issues and no NA playing experience in the last few years. Great talent. Drafted too high with #7 which gave everyone unrealistic expectations. I hope he gets traded so he can still use some of that prospect shine.
