  1. The Isles had won the Wales Conference 5x in a row. So to beat the Isles was a big deal.

  2. Too bad Pelle Lindbergh was too stupid to ask someone to drive him home in the wee hours of 10 November 1985.

  3. Watching Pelle Lindbergh, I'm often left wondering what heights he would have achieved if he hadn't died just a few months later in that car crash. Such a shame.

  4. Flyers had franchise record-setting 53 victories in 1984-1985 reg. season/had N.H.L.'s best home record during reg. season as they went 32-4-4 in front, their home faithful

  5. It is absolutely remarkable that from 1982-84 the Flyers had Clarke, Barber and Sittler to provide veteran leadership and playoff experience. Yet, they choked bad in the playoffs, losing 9 straight playoff games, to make it one and done each year. But when those players are gone the next year, the Flyers suddenly make the finals. This might have been the greatest example of addition by subtraction in the entire history of professional sports!

  6. The day after the Flyers finished off the Islanders, the Inquirer's sports section headline was, "Lindbergh Sends the Isles Packing". Boy, that was a keeper.

  7. It's too bad Flyers had some Major Injuries to some of their best players, MARK HOWE (HOF'amer), TIM KERR (Teams Top Goal Scorer almost every season), They had a Rookie Goaltender which didn't help , Brian Propp and Peter Zezel was hurting too. Who knows, had Pelle not die and got more experience he might have been the guy they needed to beat em in 1987 as it went to Game 7.

  8. Cheesy song at the end.
    Friggin embarrassing.
And still, NO Stanley Cups since 1975. THAT is truly pathetic.

  9. Anybody know WHY Quebec had Home Ice Advantage in the Conference finals? Flyers had a WAY better regular season record! I have never understood that!

  10. As an Isles fan even though. The flyers had eliminated the Isles. The Oilers had ended the Isles Dynasty and I want the Flyers to beat them.

  11. Thank you J Mak. This brings back so many great memories. I’ve showed this to my kids. Very much appreciated!!!

  12. So glad I was born in 72 and watched this team in the 80s. They were awesome. That franchise does not exist anymore. Nothing but a shell of its former self, embarrassing themselves, the fans and the city for a decade. Move them to houston
