Karlsson at 50% retained would be great. Karlsson with his full cap hit is not a net positive.

These are bad. Some worse than others.

They start by talking about how culture is valued but then suggest trading for Miller who is about to start a 7/8 deal. No thanks.

Karlsson has been hashed out here already.

No way in hell should Buffalo give up a 1st for Boone Jenner. I’d do 2024 2nd round pick, Olofsson, Hinostroza, rights to Ryan Johnson, and rights to Erik Portillo but that’s a pile of not much and Columbus wouldn’t take it.

I do not want JT Miller anywhere near this locker room.

  4. TJ Miller is locker room cancer, and his contract is cancer too

I like how right at the start of the article there’s already a red flag. They bring up the drought joy factoring into their take when it’s clear if this team didn’t have a playoff drought currently this article wouldn’t exist

Started reading, what a fucking terrible trade to start your article with lol. JT Miller is not even close to what sabres fans want, I’ve not seen one sabres fan say “you know what this team needs, JT miller, I hear horvats name more often”

Karlsson at 50 retained is pretty good, I can live with that, the term hurts tho

Boone Jenner, I mean I guess I don’t rly see why we need him and I’m not a fan of giving Columbus a 23 1st for him either

I’m rly not huge on buying big at the deadline this year, I’d rather and I think Adams is of the same mind would rather see how far the boys can go on their own. Maybe shore up the bottom pair but that’s rly it

Boone Jenner is interesting but we’d likely have to overpay with him being captain and all

  7. Killswitch__AUT

    Those trades are horrible, wtf

A first AND Olofsson for Boone Jenner? What????

  8. mylifeisanemptyshell

Lets trade VO++ who struggles at 5v5 for JT Miller. Ya know, the dude who is getting absolutely blasted by the fan base for being awful defensively as well being such culture guy that there have been multiple videos of him throwing a temper tantrum on the ice at his team mates this year. Fucking brilliant.

  9. CartographerLocal321

I’m glad I’m not the only one who takes a big ol’ pass on these

  10. edit-the-sad-parts

Mittelstadt’s point production is the only redeeming part of him wtf are they on

  11. Timotheus2443

Hard (and I can’t emphasize this enough) **HARD** pass on Miller. *Maaaaaaybe* his attitude gets better here with a locker room that’s amazing (all indications are that Vancouver’s locker room sucks hard, and not just because of Miller), but that’s not a risk I’m taking.

Karlsson could be an interesting get, pair him with Power, and suddenly our top-4 defense is absolute murder while Joker slides down to a more suitable bottom-2 role. We’re about the only team that has the assets and cap space to take him on, but his term makes me nervous.

Jenner is a guy that would work well here, but not at the cost of a first rounder this year. Olofsson, a 24 second, and Ryan Johnson might be a good price to start.

  12. secret_rye

I’d be fine with scenario 1 or 3 but I don’t see Karlsson on our team. Luke Schenn would be an interesting acquisition in itself if JT Miller is left out of that trade.

  13. The only one I don’t completely hate is the Jenner trade, but I still wouldn’t give up a first. If we could instead make it some combination of Bryson/Portillo/Johnson/lower pick maybe.
But I’d still rather look at making a trade for D that wouldn’t cost a crazy amount

  14. So he proposes Sabres paying a lot to take very bad contract, who may backlash right away.

  15. Sandymcjizztits

I think the most realistic one is the JT miller trade, his contract makes it pretty hard to think that’s a good deal. We’re obviously getting the better player but I’m not sure they make any major moves. Maybe a depth trade or two but I don’t see them going all in, that seems pretty dumb to me.

    >For weeks we have collectively held our tongues, remained tight-lipped, and sat on it. “It” being the prospect of the Buffalo Sabres pushing for a playoff berth in 2023.

I don’t know who the hell has been holding their tongue, but it SURE AS HELL HASN’T BEEN ME!

  17. Yop_BombNA

I don’t mind trading parts of that trade for Shenn but as a sabres/nucks fan fuck JT Miller, that is some eichel level shit mentality, hope he ends up in Toronto Boston or Tampa somehow.
