John Tavares wasn’t treated so kindly by Islanders fans in his return against his former team, but the Maple Leafs’ faithful made sure he knew he was embraced by Toronto with a massive standing ovation.

    Isles fan here. Was at the game on the 28th and it was very very brutal to Tavares. The tv clips don’t really capture it. What the isles fans did was fine. What the leafs fans did here was fine. A playoff series between the two would be epic.

    Nice to see him welcome back home… yes he's a professional athlete but like he's also human and has feelings and having like 15K people chanting and cursing you out all game over them being so salty… he deserves this from Toronto. I'm no leaf fan but this is where he belongs… where the franchise will love him no matter if he finishes with them or gets traded in years time. But welcome home JT.
