This is a great signing both for Toronto financially and also for Gio who can try and contend at the end of his career. If it only lasts a year you can bury is contract the next year the cap hit is minor. I’m happy with this deal.
What’s even more disappointing is the fact that the lightning are one game away from sweeping Florida and I now realize that if we won the overtime in game 6 the leafs actually had a real shot to win it all this year 😑

Smart move for both teams. Gio is certainly not the player he was 5 years ago, however he has a lot to offer Leafs; depth, physicality & teaching young defenseman how to play the NHL game. Gio obviously did not like his anonymity in Seattle & expansion team woes.
