Philly – always read once or twice a year about Flyers fans attacking visiting fans. Given that a lot of fans root for their home team, the drunks are basically attacking fans for being born in/living in another city

If youāre not a flyers fan and go to a flyers gameā¦ wear a Philly jersey or else your night will be ruined, especially if your team winsā¦.

For me, it’s:
Caps fans: Everyone needs to love Ovi as much as I do or none of this counts!
Pens fans: I support my team through the good times, but also through the good times.

I have been at quite a few hockey games in random cities and IMO no one even comes close to the Bruins fans. They are rude, entitled, and just arrogant as shit.

During the playoffs in 2013, my wife and I scored some nosebleed section seats at TD Garden in Boston. We were playing Toronto (the same series where Boston came back from a 3-1 deficit in the third during game 7)
There were 3 dudes from Toronto with their Leafs gear on, surrounded by a sea of Black and Gold. For the most part it was typical banter back and forth, until some dudes like 5 rows away would just turn around and flip off the Leafs fans like every 30 seconds, screaming profanities and just being absolute clowns. To the point where myself and fellow Bruins fans were getting annoyed and started sticking up for the Toronto dudes.
The drunk dudes followed the Leafs guys harassing them, so we ended up walking out of the Garden with them, and ended up being on the same train as them for a bit. Drunk dudes eventually gave up when everyone just ignored them. They thanked us for being cool, and we just chatted hockey and gave them some good recommendations for food, bars, stuff to see in Boston. All in all they were super chill and friendly.
But those like 3-4 drunk dudes during the game? Almost caused a fight, weren’t even watching the game cause they were focused on harassing guys in blue and white sweaters, and just were complete fucking clowns all game.
I try to be a good Boston fan, but it’s fucking hard man. I get it completely why people hate Boston fans, etc. When the Sox won in 2004 and it started a Golden Age of New England Championship winning teams for several years, our fans got super cocky, super annoying, and super fucking entitled. Kinda ruined going to any live sports event for me, my wife and friends. Just not worth the embarrassment or harassment from drunks.
But yeah, Boston fans are the worst. 100%
Just not all of us.

This is stupid. You could make this case for/against any team based off of a certain selection of individuals you come across.
Iām a life long *LA Kings* fan. Iāve been exposed to this fan base long enough to argue we have some of the Greatest fans in the game, and some of the most mind-numbingly stupid fans as well just based off my interactions at games. Then I lived in Denver for many years and drew the same conclusions about Avalanche fans. Then lived in Boston and felt the same way about Bruins fans, and now Iām in Seattle and can argue the same way for/against Kraken fans. People are people. Fans are fans. Stupid is everywhere. Nobody has a monopoly on it.

Iāll say as a Blues fan, itās not hawks, preds, or wild fans. Been to several hawks and preds games in their barn, and went to the winter classic at target field in Minnesota and had pleasant experiences with all of those fan bases. Friendly banter but never anybody being rude or over the top. We actually really enjoy talking with people from the opposite fan base when we visit Chicago and Nashville for blues games.

I think the worst fans are actually the ones that gatekeep being hockey fans especially when they gatekeep their teams because a new fan isn’t as knowledgeable. I’m from a city in Canada that produces a lot of hockey players and it’s super engrained in our city and culture. People can be snotty af which is crazy because our city producers a ton of household name NHL players and everybody and their dog basically has a hand in hockey because it’s really the only thing to do in our long winters. If anyone watches Letterkenny imagine a bunch of unqualified ‘coaches’ that never played hockey flipping out at people for not being as dedicated to the sport and/or superficial social media puck bunnies. People need to humble themselves and not ruin the sport for others or the players on the ice. The only time I’ve seen people unite is when there’s a fight on the ice or for the greater good of chirping other teams.
