Between him and Sandin I truly can't wait to see them in the leafs line up. I'd be okay with moving on from Dermott.

The lifelong leafs in me is sounding like a broken record since I’m always excited at the beginning of seasons but with guys like Liljegren and Sandin developing, along with the new additions on the back end (Brodie, Lehtonen, Bogosian) through letting go of dead weight to our cap (ceci, Barrie, etc), I’m about as optimistic as I’ve ever been about our roster. Our defense has always been our glaring weakness, so now there’s legitimately no excuses to not make a statement this season

Love when people call him a bust 😂 a 21 yr old producing great in the AHL he has the potential to be a top 2/4 defensemen that shoots right handed can’t wait to see him and Sandin crack the roster if not this year than next the future is looking good for Toronto
Considering a condensed schedule, a taxi squad, and how players need pass through wavers, Lilly will not be anywhere but in the AHL playing heavy minutes on the top pairing.
If Sandin and Liligren play in a few more games, they will no longer be able to be sent to the minors. I believe the Leafs will go with …Rielly, Brodie, Muzzin, Dermott, Holl, Bogosian .. Taxi Squad= Lehtonen, Rosen, Marincin …..Bogosian and Lehtonen will share time in the 6th spot.
Honestly I got him behind brodie, holl, bogo, dermott, and lehtonen for guys who can play the right side and 9th overall on d depth and that’s with Marty behind him. He’s got another year in the A atleast
At this point liljegren will be lucky to have a role like Martin Marincin… 9th defensive man that that nobody wants yet gets a contract every year
Anybody can make the roster if they impress enough? This video right from the get go doesn’t make sense. How is Lilly making this team this season? There are 6 or 7 guys above him. He’s not a bust yet but I don’t see him ever reaching the potential he had, I think the mono really messed him up, don’t see him ever playing higher then a second pair if he reaches that. I obviously could be wrong but I’ve been to many Marlie games in recent years and he hasn’t impressed me once and often times I found he got out worked in the corners and was often being knocked down and taken out of the play. Obviously he is still young but I don’t see him making this roster for another year or two just based on who’s a head of him in skill and usefulness. I think you and I saw different things when watching him live because he usually doesn’t look great defensively he has improved for sure but thinking he will develop into a 2 way dman magically in this offseason when that has never been his game is just pie in the sky thinking man.
