On today’s show, Russ and Rachel discuss last night’s win vs the Washington Capitals with Travis Konecny, Owen Tippett, Scott Laughton and Carter Hart as standouts. Then we start our formal coverage leading up to the next NHL Draft! Russ has his first rankings set, so it’s time to talk process and an overview of his Top 32 as of now. We get into how he evaluates players, how players can improve their rankings in his eyes, and overall trends on the list. How does the USNTDP look as a whole? Do the Russians drop in rankings due to lack of international play? Then we dig into some specific players and where they stand. We compare Adam Fantilli to Leo Carlsson, look at potentially the top Defenseman in the draft: Axel Sandin-Pellikka, plus Will Smith, Andrew Cristall, Dmitiri Simachev, and more.

  1. Never thought the Flyers would put together a streak like this one. Konecny certainly deserves to be an All-Star and other players have played way above expectations, but at this point I think you have to give Coach Torts a ton of credit. He's proving to be a great hire and the players may not always love him, but the team effort seems to be there consistently. My sense is that his hockey knowledge is elite and it seems that he is turning an average-to- below average roster into a very competitive team. Really great to see it happening.

  2. They are playing better right now. Sure, they get sloppy at times, like that Provy turnover. And still have defensive flaws, weak clears, zone entries, & inconsistant PP. But you can see the effort. And the smiles on their faces enjoying the game. That was missing all of last year & early this year. Those hanging heads & late-game collapses have lessened. The coach got them believing in that 'play the right way with non-stop effort' approach. Granted, they lack elite talent & probably will get beat by better teams, but at least they're an entertaining hard-working team to watch. TK deserves an All-Star vote.
