    The good: Samsonov

The bad: everything and everybody else.

  2. StaticR0ute

“When you come into Detroit, you know what goes on”… apparently

  3. lianalili

the leafs didn’t play that well but MAN idk how many times we can say it was one of the worst officiated games of the season in one season

  4. SpellboundUnicorn

Does officiating suck donkey ass? Yes.
Will it be called like this in the playoffs? Most likely.
So suck it up and play through it.

  5. ifonlyihadaname

So it’s cool for kerfoot to just get mauled into the boards by two guys there eh, good job ref

  6. Hustler17

    First star – The Refs

    Second star – Samsonov

    Third star – Who Cares

I couldn’t catch the game, but did we get a goal called back in the first? The Score app gave me a Leaf goal announcement but then said 1-0 when the wings scored.

  8. Leafs didn’t have it tonight. The refs made sure it stayed that way. Not going to get too worked up by a mid January loss on a back to back

  9. incredibad29

The leafs and the refs had something in common tonight: they were both shit.

  10. They played tired and lazy pretty much the entire game and deserved to lose that’s pretty much the story of the game onto the next one

  11. dres_sler

Zzzzzz don’t care about this loss at all.

    Bring on the bruins

  12. Sucks to lose, but I’m not angry about this one at all. Now if they lose to Boston on Saturday, I’ll be furiously salty.

  13. PaJaJa90

Tampa 3 games in hand, winning tonight. Puts them tied with us if they win at 42 GP

  14. Volderon90

Reffing like that game makes me seriously consider ever watching this league again. If the rules don’t matter what’s the point

  15. We win that with Brodie and Timmins. Argue with a wall if you disagree.

  16. SmokeontheHorizon

Zebra show! Get your tickets! Watch a bunch of balding frat bros who weren’t good enough to go pro turn a blind eye to your favourite players getting sticks in the face or checked to the head! Why’s that guy unconscious? We don’t know! Come find out and revel in our complete obliviousness to spilled blood! The only rule is refs rule (so don’t be mean!)

  17. Take the fine Sheldon, refs out here fucking around

  18. CamThompson

Just one of those games, it was the first time this season I’d say a back-to-back really *looked* like a back-to-back. We seemed a little sluggish, a bit slow processing and connecting on plays.

We clearly miss Matthews in some settings like the PP and when we’re pushing for the goal at the end especially. I thought Samsonov looked good, I still really like the Sandin-Lily pairing.

It’s obviously not the reason we lost tonight (just a meh game overall), but my god NHL reffing in general is horrendous. I don’t think it’s rigged against us or anything conspiracy-like, it’s just generally incompetent. Competent reffing would call Ben Chiarot (and guys like him) for 5 penalties a game. His only transferrable skill is taking so many penalties that they can’t call them all.

  19. HotDamnLisaLaFlamme

Refs were certainly a contributing factor, but we were too slow tonight. Great 3rd, Husso just stood on his head. Hell of a game from Sammy too.

Matthews and Timmins could’ve made the difference.

  20. DaAliGoutOfTheHouse

So he played with a broken stick for 8 seconds

  21. Showtime98

Boys looked tired and refs were god awful, on to Boston we go.

  22. Fun-Suspect-2167

That was Detroit’s game 7 cause they aint making the playoffs.

8 years of tanking and your best forward is Larkin or Raymond, oof.

DOPS? anyone home? how the FRICK is an absolute mauling like this NOT intent to injure? I counted bare minimum 12 uncalled infractions against the wings including this suspendable offense and an equally brutal attack on kerfy at the end of regulation.

WAKE UP NHL. something needs to be done before a player is LITERALLY KILLED on the ice.

  24. DeathEater91

I don’t know why we are giving Simmonds any more games.

He was brought in as an aggressor but hasn’t been one for us in ages, this would be the game for him to step up, and nothing.

  25. Deluxechin

I think having a back to back of back to backs, where one of the games is the Refs letting one team get away with murder while the other can’t look at the players the wrong way without getting a call AND were down our best player, keeping it a 1 goal game until the goalie pull, deserves some more credit then its getting here

i felt while the first period was weak and there were some bad turnovers, this overall was a decent game from the Leafs, all things considered
