  1. Hi clay I’m not surprised honestly about the Pearson news I’ve definitely missed him in the lineup see you tonight on game over Vancouver and your regular stream

  2. 1st thought is hopefully he recovers for his personal health. Not early retirement.

  3. Clay … say the word "T" word. "Tank" baby. Think of it as a positivity as we can rebuild via a higher draft pick unless we pick bums again like Juolevi and Virtanen.

  4. Cynical take here:

When Tyler Motte was injured, fans were awaiting his return with anticipation, and with good reason; he was a good defensive forward, lauded for his penalty killing. His market worth of maybe half a million more than what the Canucks were willing to pay is an opportunity missed, especially given the now realized value of defensive players who seem to be few and far between in this club. Smart hockey fans knew what this guy was about and wished him better elsewhere.
Meanwhile I have to constantly remind myself that Pearson is injured especially given the value returned for his contract. He's a player who contributes but with an offensive skillset that can be had at a bargain from other up-and-comers with spark and tenacity. If it wasn't for his contract, Pearson could have been buried in the minors much like the versatile and low maintenance Sven Baertschi who notably accompanied the first line with Bo Horvat amongst his other assignments. Instead, Tanner is buried on the LTIR much like Brandon Sutter, another Canuck I need to be reminded about.
I think by season's end, this hockey club needs to reevaluate what is most valuable and redistribute their salaries to far better contributing players, and if not, at least opt for better value and expendability from players who possess the same amount mediocre pizazz that we are so used to seeing.

That being said, nobody should leave a career due to injury, and although certain players don't have much value or return in this market, they can certainly deliver in others. What management needs to solve is how to move players either for the club's benefit and perhaps they'll realize, it'll be for everyone's mutual benefit.
