  1. I don’t have Steve’s understanding of the game but what I see with Walman and Maatta are two consistent defensemen that make the team better.

I have really enjoyed his performance this year, especially since moving him up with Mo.

I hope that he is going to stick around for a while.

  3. I’d sign him for a year or two with option to be moved until the kids get up to speed full time. Same for Maata. Could always package in a deal after their play this year barring more injuries.

I’m very positive about Wallinder coming over next season and he has great shot at making it through training camp, the other guy is Edvinsson of course.

Despite all that, I would love to see Maatta and Walman back for 2-3 years extensions.. I am hoping that we find a way to get rid of Chiarot sooner than later.

With such a small sample size I don’t think the return would be great in a trade. Listen to offers in case something impossible to turn down happens but it’s probably better to ride out the year and see what kind of contract he’s looking for. A shorter term deal could be a great fit while our defensive prospects get all the time that they need to learn the pro game and some year to year stability would probably be good for the group on the roster already.

I really dont mind Walman/Seider for a foreseeable future but not gonna lie, Seider/Edvinsson is a wet dream.

This discussion seems premature. Let’s see all 82 games first, but…

He’s 26, plays solid defense, has fantastic offensive game, and pairs well with Mo. Seems like a no-brainer for the rebuilding Wings to resign him assuming the remainder of his season goes well.
