  1. The team knew ELA was in the building and would not be tolerating any Bad Defense or Teenager behaviour!

  2. A note on Martin Jones versus the Bruins – Martin looked huge in net, helped by the fact that his team was playing to keep the chances in front of him so he could focus on making himself a giant goalie man and absorbing pucks.

Also a note on the Sprong
assist – Coaches love to talk about getting pucks on net from anywhere but if you’re going to take that strategy it helps to shoot from those low danger locations using speed, the element of surprise, and net front skill to convert a low danger chance into something higher danger. That first goal was a perfect example where, yes, the goal was a little flukey looking, but Sprong and Tanev did everything they could to make the shot as dangerous as possible given the low danger point of origin.

  3. I LOVED hearing Jason’s enthusiasm for the Firebirds and breaking down the technical aspects of his job. He sound like the perfect PA announcer for this special (first in the AHL in points percentage) team.. I love these Firebirds because they are so danged lovable! Jason painted a vibrant little portrait of the team in this interview especially the bit about the on the bench communications.

I heard a misogynist fan of a different team making fun of Jessica Campbell calling her a “skating coach” in a pejorative way. While that is her background, those who know, know she’s so much more! Hearing Jason talk about how well she communicates with the players on the bench is an awesome detail to hear.

  4. Vote—-> Who thinks sprong & tolvanen should swap lines? Yes=swap No=stay 3. Sprong_Gourde_Bjorkstrand 4. Tanev_Donato_Tolvanen. Maybe we should leave it, they are doing good. 3 looked like the shut down line the lightning had to win the cup, twice. Goodrow_Gourde_Coleman. Goodrow was defensive/tolvanen, coleman was offensive/bjorkstrand. And you know gourdeo
