Everyone must do what is best for themselves and we all need/should take "breaks" whenever we can…but with that said, welcome back DD! As for your future content/schedule…you do you DD, but just make sure you keep the passion, keep a healthy work/family life balance and that you enjoy yourself. Build it and they will come!
As for the Habs…IMHO HuGo have told MSL, help develop the young guys, help the veterans gain value, try to build a fresh, positive Habs team culture…don't worry about the wins/losses. MSL is a good players coach, but I am not yet sold on him being a good HEAD coach…time will tell. As for the "tank for Bedard"…they are not purposely tanking but they are definitely not trying to help avoid the tank. We obviously would love to see Connor in a Habs uniform, but I can also foresee Mtl fans and esp media eventually discussing "Is this Suzuki's team or Bedard's?" I say, let fate guide this team and what will be is what was meant to be. One thing is for sure, the 2023 Draft Lottery will be the most anticipated and most watched event in 2023! LOL
The Laval Rocket are currently 2 points away from a playoff spot. Speaking of Slaf, would that not be a better idea to let him dominate there and then learn how to help a team to get somewhere with something at stakes? Simon Nemec and David Jiricek look rather dominant with the Utica Comets and the Cleveland Monsters respectively as of now. The work with Adam Nicholas should not be an issue since Laval is basically in the Habs' own backyard.
Welcome back bud ! Been waiting for your return. As for Steve Dangle…he's entertaining for Leafs fans ; just like you've always been for us Habs fans. Enjoyed your posts from the start so just be Dekes and do your own thing. We've got ya ! Glad you enjoyed your break and that you're considerate and mindful enough for yourself and your family to know when you need one. We'll always be here. Now as for the tank…I said at the beginning that we had to be patient and let the team learn and grow. As the trade deadline gets closer We'll probably see veterans moved which will weaken the team even more But give more ice time to the rookies. Have to keep the longterm vision in mind. Again ; great to have you back bud ! GHG !
You're one of my favourite channels to watch, and I took some inspiration from you in starting our channel. Your calm demeanor is really awesome to see when so many other channels (including us sometimes lol) get loud and reactionary.
Thanks for the vid dude. This level of authenticity and transparency are what will make your viewers stick around and be way more supportive than most other communities around youtubers. Sure, you can play the algorithm game, but it's going to have many other consequences. And will often involve stuff that older viewers are allergic to (exactly those that can have the most impact on Patreon, etc.). From the new wave of Habs Youtubers, I follow you and Junkie. I used to follow an other one but unsubscribed when the clickbait and algorithm worshipping started a little while ago. And I'm sure that I'm not the only one with similar values.
There also was the Hockey Guy, but he disgusted me morally.
I really like the videos, keep up the good work ❤️, I love the canadiens a lot but taking a brake is understandable there not the most divertising team while tanking, when Im bored watching hockey, I watch basketball 🏀
Agree 100% about taking a break from watching games and how it affects your mental health. Been doing the same. Re the tank, well after watching Bedard….no prob with me. 😉
Hey Andrew. Glad you appreciated your time off. It's totally normal to want to take a break from work. No worries man.
Here's a time management idea for your channel. Only do post game shows when they win. lol Seriously though, you don't have to do a post game show after every game. We all have eyes and can see the games for ourselves. You might as well concentrate on Habs news or if something different happens. Like if there's a blowout and why you think there was a blow out. Maybe a trade and comment how they played in their first game. Call ups and why you like or hate them. I'd rather hear your opinion on something than a play by play of a game. I'd be happy if you did a video every 2-3 days if that makes you feel less stress. On a slow week, maybe 1 or 2 videos. No sweat.. My 2 cents.
As for Bedard, I need to be grounded and realistic about it. I do not think Florida will end the season in the top 10 worse teams. There's no reason for them to tank. They don't even have a 1st round pick. Montreal has it. Hey, if they get worse, great! But I'm not betting on it. And even if Montreal drops down to the worse team (which I don't think they will) it's still a lottery. So until the Habs have the first overall pick, I'll patiently wait for the draft. I don't want to let my hopes up. The chances are they don't get first and that's reality.
The Habs can't control the lottery. What the Habs have control over is scouting. They have to scout the hell out of this draft.
This is what I expect. It's a deep draft but I think the Habs will still push to trade for another 1st round pick. But it's not going to be a top 10 pick. It's going to be a 20 to 32nd pick. If they can't get a 1st round pick, they'll get another 2nd round pick. In the last draft, Montreal picked Slafkovsky, Mesar in the 1st and Beck, Hutson in the second. Only 3 players have played in the NHL from last year's draft. Slafkovsky played the most and that's great! I don't care what anyone says. Go look at the last game. Slafkovsky was very good. He played 14.37 seconds; one more second than Armia. He also had 51 seconds of PP time. That's not Owen Beck WJC minutes. Juraj got some real ice time playing with Dvorak and Anderson. Fans want to see the Habs fast track their rebuild, yes? Is there any better way to get experience in the NHL than playing in the NHL? I'm convinced Juraj knows the position he's in. If I'm Marty, I would have been straight. "We picked you because we have faith that you will help this team win one day but the team isn't good enough as a whole now to do so. There's no pressure on you to win us a cup tomorrow. Do your best every game you play and we'll work together to see what you need to work on to get there." Isn't that the plan? No one expects the team to win. More fans than not are hoping they finish last. So why play him in Laval? Confidence? He seems full of confidence. He's not playing bad. He's learning and happy to be in the NHL to do it.
OK I went on a tangent. My point is that the Habs picked 4 great picks in the first 2 rounds that a lot of Habs fans are excited about. All I ask of the next draft is find another first few picks to be excited about. This draft is deeper than 2022. As of now the Habs have 3 picks in the first 2 rounds. And because the draft is deep, their first 2 picks might be better than Slafkovsky. So that's what I want. If Bedard isn't available, pick the best other players of the draft!
As for tanking, I don't think the young players have "given up". Every player on the team understand that they have a lot of inexperience as a whole. I think it's understood that at some points, young players will put in situations where they will fail and that's part of learning to play in the NHL. The young guys understand this is a part of the learning process. Some of the vets might not be too happy because it's hurting their stats too. Like it or not, a player who gets 45 points a season can make as much as 1-2 million more than a guy who gets 25 points a season. That's a lot of money. So maybe some only care about that because they know they aren't making the playoffs. But you don't want this attitude to leech over to your young players. That's not a team attitude. That's also probably why Marty wasn't happy with some players last game. He wants a room full of winners even when there's no hope.
Yes, I rambled on. Sorry. I do that on occasion. Glad you're back Andrew!
I gotta say, I do like these longer recaps of a week or more of Habs news. Kind of a nice pace to reflect on the news and not just announce it asap with a short video which is kinda the norm for most channels
You're great Drew, just cherry pick the stuff you find interesting and want to talk about. You don't need to do what others are doing. Then it's your original content
The real story is that Laval can't win because their goaltending is absolute horse S*@T. Vrbetic needs to be given a chance to win some games as he is the only one who has looked like an AHL goalie this season. Primeau and Poulin are garbage. Laval repeatedly outplays their opponents and lose anyway. Can't even watch anymore. My Laval subscription is wasting away and so is Laval's playoff hopes. NO Habs prospects in the AHL playoffs this season.
Too many people have taken Slaf as being the next coming of Guy Lafleur or Stephane Richer, and he may very well be one day, but the kid is still 18, with less than 40 NHL games under his belt. Stop looking for instant gratification and let the kid play and gain experience in a year that we all know was going to be a bust for this team, and one that there is nothing to loose.
As far as tanking, I don't think anyone does it intentionally (well maybe Arizona), just that the team isn't that good. Part of the reason why there was no big rush/push to get Price back in nets, and he basically gets a year off (not saying he will be back next year, but I think it is part of it).
I don't know if we will get down to Chicago's level as they are truly bad, and will only get worse come trade deadline when they are likely to move Kane and Toews, so I don't think the team can get down to that level and have the best chance to nab #1.
What happens if you manage to get 2 top 5 picks in 2023? Say 2 and 5. Do you think the team that gets #1 can be enticed to trade #1 for #2 and #5? I think it depends on the team. Chicago….I don't think they make that trade, as Bedard will basically be Kane's and/or Toews replacement down the line. However if it was Arizona that gets #1, then maybe they just might make that trade.
Anderson. I think that if he is not moved before the trade deadline this year, then he is with the Habs long term. Pretty sure it would take a fairly strong return to get that trade done (1st and a prospect).
Keep in mind that regardless if there are any trade deadline deals made or not, there is still $22 million in contracts coming off the books at the end of the season. Byron, Dadanov, Monohan, Drouin, with the only significant resigning we need to make is Caufiled. If a Edmundson, Hoffman, and/or Dvorak get traded, that's another $3.5 to $12.5 million off the books, either way, Habs might be busy next July when FA starts.
Folks, I just need to say how much I appreciate your comments after my first video in a while. I really didn’t expect such a positive response. I barely got this video done on time before work, and doubted the interest it might have because it had been so long and I felt rusty. You’ve all seriously helped re-energize me. Some days you simply doubt yourself and your ability to keep going and and make videos people will enjoy. I again didn’t expect so many positive comments. Thank you ALL very kindly. You’re all a blessing 🙏🏻
I honestly think they're deliberately tanking, how the hell do you explain Suzuki playing like crap? A few good games here and there, but he's definitely not his usual self, how do you explain vets playing unbelievably bad? how do you explain that there is ZERO structure in our game?..its like they completely forgot how to play hockey, I want to lose, but I don't like being absolutely embarrassed
Glad you are back. You are fair, thoughtful and focused on your analysis. I think the optics of sending Juraj Slafkovsky either to the minors or Team Canada would not have been good. Looking more like they are setting the stage for TANKing. But…the real loss… is the coach. He proved he can motivate manage and even inspire in his short sample size… but even if Montreal gets a top pick, he is owed his fair chance with everyone in the organization pulling in the same direction. In the most real sence, "He's taking this season, for the team." Thanks Marty.
Tampa Bay did this after they had Stamkos but were trying to get Hedman. They went into the NHL season with like 3 NHL defencemen who had played in the NHL Before. andrei Meszaros was their best defender and Paul Ranger was like their number three guy. The personnel in place was destined to be unsuccessful.
Management maybe, we will never know, but players … no way. It's not in the nature of a NHL player to not compete, not only that it would show a lot if a player was not giving his fullest in game.
I'm also kind of mad at people wanting the tank, those people are not fans!
tank this is bs its only half the season gone yes i am a fan and i will tell you habs biggest problem been watching for two years and i have been watching a broken record tweet tweet and i am sorry but they deserved some but look at the last 20 games before 5 min of the game habs get tweet tweet oh you think i am wrong bs i dont get to watch many games lately as i stop watching when they call the first tweet tweet if you think i am wrong please check last years statistics and this years stats and i am really a habs fan for 68 years and i know what i am talking about and st louis tongue is getting sore as he has to keep his mouth shut
I don't know about you guys but i lost almost all interest in watching that team play. And it would be great if the Habs had two picks in the top 5 but it will take a miracle.

Drew……..most of the podcasts I listen to are weekly……….focus on quality vs quantity……Great Job!!!
Everybody Knows. They started the season with two healthy NHL defensemen on the roster. Everybody knows.
Roy was great in August as well and had 8 points in 7 games This Christmas he had 11 points in 7 games.
