  1. Great to see how consistent Fox is. Makar was amazing last year, but Fox has been great for 4 straight years now

  2. This is the second time I have seen someone write off Morrissey's defense arbitrarily. You obviously haven't watched him play. The system the team plays is designed to allow for aggressive D-man activation, he isn't sacrificing anything he is a +12 right now.

I haven't seen much of Fox or Dahlin. But there's no way Morrissey is losing points for the defensive side of the game.

  3. Watching Fox play every night is a pleasure. Even if he doesn't get on the score sheet, he makes so many little plays. For a guy who isn't very big or fast, his smarts, patience and vision are off the charts. Dude's gonna have his number up in the rafters at MSG one day

  4. Nope it’s Charlie McAvoy. Everyone knows the Bruins top six we’re getting older and no one picked them to do anything this year. It’s their young defenseman that are propelling them to the top. Prove me wrong

  5. Fox is having another phenomenal season with the Rangers. Huge contender for the trophy this year if he keeps it up!

  6. Karlsson should get the masterson, but not a Norris. Makar gets votes because he’s Canadian and won last year, so he gets the narrative votes. Dahlin gets because the Sabres look better this year, but he’s not Norris winning level. Morrissey isn’t that good, he’s got good offensive numbers, but he’s also playing the weakest conference and division so he’s got an easier slate of games. Fox plays in the best division, best conference, has better advanced stats, better defensive metrics.

  7. karlsson plays on a really bad team, dahlin plays on a really young team, morrissey plays on a really solid team, fox plays on what some say is a cup contender. points as a metric is misleading.

  8. A dark horse might be Vince Dunn. He has 30 points and a +/- of 22. If his scoring goes up in the second half of the season, his two way game is undeniable this year and he’s a huge reason why the kraken are where they are in the standings right now.

  9. I think you can make an argument for all of them. Personally I think that Karlsson got robbed of his 3rd and 4th Norris trophies a few years back. Not saying that means he should be rewarded with one now because of that though. Can't wait to see how it all plays out this season and who actually wins it.

  10. Totally agree with you. K'andre Miller is another criminally underrated d-man for the Rangers. Not as many points but his play on both ends is amazing. He can burn you going up the ice with the puck and still can get back and break up an odd man rush going the other way. Amazing player and yet still totally selfless

  11. Fox is one of those special players. He's not the most gifted physically, but his hockey IQ is off the charts. He gets so much done on the ice, yet he's easy to miss a lot of the time. He just comes out of nowhere and leaves players wondering what the heck happened. That OT goal against Dallas is a perfect example.

  12. This is not credible at all. You said offensive isn't the full picture but you presented mostly offensive stats. Fox plays on a better team. I mean PIM can be reflective of the the team playing with the puck more not a lack of effort defensively. I love Fox but this is mostly a editorial not a great case

  13. Not even close. He's no more a Norris candidate than Dougie Hamilton – streaky offense, mediocre at defense – these guys have the potential to be Norris winners, but they simply aren't the best defensemen in the league on a nighlty basis. Not even really that close. In fact all your "spicy" takes so far have been pretty bad, and lukewarm to boot.

  14. Why are offensive stats the lead story for defensemen, they should be secondary stats, or complimentary at most.

  15. When you realize team USA's top PP unit next Olympics is Fox, Hughes, Zegras, Caufield, and Matthews
