Classy, just like the way Aquilini and his family operate.

  2. Firestorm238

Are they just bringing him in as a poison pill to get players to waive their NTCs / NMCs? Or is this team just plain that stupid.

For the record: people can learn from past mistakes and grow from them as a person. This was just something that came up in the CBC’s recent Fifth Estate episode on sports gambling, so I felt compelled to share.

I don’t understand why we are targeting a failing coach for a failing team. He’s a .400 win % head coach in the NHL. How is this guy remotely the right guy to turn this team around and make playoffs next year – which sadly is exactly what Aqua is trying to do.

This franchise is an absolute abomination.

Rutherford hired him in Pittsburgh as an assistant

  6. There’s a reason why he’s been unemployed this far.

  7. Not sure why anyone would want to join the Canucks right now, feels like a major gamb- ohhhh.

The guy was involved in gambling! Who’s to say he doesn’t gamble on sports events? They really are this fucked up! Why is there no NHL intervention here? This franchise will NEVER progress as long as Aqulini owns it.

Funny how, 15 years ago, sports gambling was a crime – and now they’re the NHL’s biggest sponsors!

Travis Green was involved in this as well . Operation Slapshot

Such old old news. No need to smear him. Move along

  12. tyereliusprime

I fully believe that Wayne and the NHL let his wife take the fall in that whole shit so his image wouldn’t be tarnished

  13. ContributionHead2086

Oh god ya let’s get the criminal everyone is gonna hate instead of the coach that gets Bruce there it is at away games. Surely nothing will go wrong right guys. RIGHT

tldr: he made some bets on sports that werent hockey in an unregulated gambling ring. really kind of a nothing burger imo.

Oh no sports gambling!!!!! it’s not like they promote that shit every day constantly

I mean I don’t want him to be the coach, but these charges were made simply because a Sheriff (who are elected in the US) wanted to get attention near an election. What Tocchet did is now legal (or at least not illegal) in most states and in Canada.

This was around the same time other states were going after people for Fantasy Football leagues.

Someone wrote a book about how stupid the whole situation was

Goes to show hiring tocchet is a real gamble

I don’t get it. He’s for sure going to be our coach but we’re not doing it yet?

The more I am reading this the less likely this is going to be our next guy, though I have no faith in this management group.

They should get his betting advice during the pre game coach interview. Then they can just blend it into the normal pre game sports betting talk.

  21. Honestly, if this makes OEL want out, then I’m all for it

  22. dattroll123

it’s ok now. NHL is proudly sponsored by gambling sites.
