The absurd tends to happen in hockey, from pucks hitting off the boards, stick, skates and nether regions. In the AHL, a game between the Bridgeport Islanders and the Leigh Valley Phantoms would have a 180 foot goal scored by Phantoms defenseman Max Willman. It would hit off Ken Appleby’s stick and go into his own net. The goal would be the game winner for the Phantoms.

I've seen a goalie throw up from making a mistake like that, and I, being the bright guy I'am said "At least that wasn't me." Then the game after that, I went out to play the puck coming straight at me, from center, and nobody is around for it to go underneath my stick and I don't remember how or why but I fell to the ground trying to stop it from it to enter the net… I laid on the ground just thinking… wtf happened and yes I know if you're a goal tender… TEND THE GOAL!!!
