Putting a big target on him sending him to Laval. Unless Wifi is going too there will be some POS career minor leaguer taking a run every other game. Let him continue to learn from practicing with the best. His confidence is not suffering judging by his demeanor, still a big smile and soaking it all in.
I would send him to the ahl if you look at the kings , this year they send quinton byfield to the ahl and if you look at the kings roster they dont need him to be ready now and if he does turn out to be a flop then it is what it is they dont need him to be successful in the short/ long term for the team to be successfull.
Now i do belive that slaf dont have as high as high ceiling then byfield, but i do believe that habs need slaf to be successful in the league to validate a first overall and for the first pick of the new regime.
when it takes 4 months to say what the fans have known all along. The sad part is 2 of these guys were NHL'ers .. hard to tell right? How do former players get it wrong, so often?
But Montreal does not have any option with Slafkovsky whatsoever. Period. Would you say aswell send Dadonov to Laval?! It is just as bad as you think is bad. I have nothing against AHL, he should play whole season there, that's the point.
I'm just glad to see the diversity on this show. Bald men are under-represented in today's news media, and HIO is doing something about that! Thank you Stu and Rick!!
I really like the management group in Montreal and I know that hindsight is 20/20 but can't help feeling that Jeff Gorton and Kent Hughes regret not sending Slaf to the world juniors. It would have done wonders to his confidence to be with his Slovak peers in his age group, get away from the stress of playing in Montreal and just be a kid and have fun. An environment change for a week or 2 would have given him a much needed breath of fresh air.
There was nothing to gain sending Slaf to the WJs. Are you developing a NHL calibre player? Or JR player? Besides, he already played in the WJC. Nothing to gain by doing it again.
And stop comparing him to Wright. What's Wright doing now? Oh yeah, sent back to the JRs because the Kraken don't know what to do with him.
Give Slaf a break, 18yr old kit, with 39 NHL games under his belt, on a team going no where this season. Just let him play. He has looked better the last couple of games. Just let him play hockey.
Stu, you keep saying send him to Laval so he can have fun again. How do you know he isn't having fun now? What 18yr old playing reg. minutes in the NHL wouldn't be having fun.
Stop expecting him to be the next Lafleur, and just let him play hockey.

To me the plus/minus stat is a very telling stat, so I disagree with Berk on that.

Slaf should be exactly where he is. I trust the leadership group we have and so far I have no reason to doubt what they're doing.
Slafkovsky was not then and he is not now NHL Ready! He should be playing in Erie for the Otter's in the OHL! Open yours eyes man.

I've said that for the last 2 months, it would be better growth for his game. Comparable? Rantenen, period.

Good idea to send him to Laval.
I wouldn’t send him down,he seems to get better in each game that he plays,I think he should stay with the Habs🇨🇦🇨🇦

No worry let him grow in the NHL he has the size . He will not learn anything in Laval , would you please to live him alone
