a lot of fans want us to rebuild but you have to be prepared to give up petey, hughes, demko etc to do that.

I think we’re getting caught up on the semantics. He calls it a retool, but then gives a 4 to 5 year timeline. A retool is 2 to 3 years. We know he won’t trade the 1st round pick. He’s going to look for young players in this timeline that could be part of the solution.

I think a lot of us think this won’t work because of previous expierience with Benning and his ineptitude with spotting talent, and trading for vets.

It might not be a full rebuild, but it’s the next best thing.

It comes down to semantics. To me it seems like Rutherfords definition of retool differs from Bennings. Bennings was add to the current core, even if it means trading picks and aging players. Rutherfords seems to mean to subtract some core players and add younger prospects to make a new core (outside of petey and likely Hughes)

Fans need to give them this deadline to see if that’s true. I get that it’s frustrating but I, potentially, heard alot of positive things today.

I met Rutherford at the hall of fame alumni game, he seemed so miserable and upset lol. Also was annoyed that someone recognized him. Seems like he should have retired into the sunset after he left Pitt. Now he has to deal with this mess.

    Retooling does work.

Rebuilds only work if you’re lucky and get a bunch of 1oa draft picks with one of those being a generational talent.

It’s one Bo Horvat, Michael. What could it cost, $7M?

  7. I just got off work to find out he fucking said this. Absolutely pathetic. I’m done being a Canucks fan until Aquaman is fucking out of here. Need to cheer for a team that actually gives a shit and doesn’t have commitment issues.
