This girl has the potential to single handedly elevate women’s hockey to a level we’ve never seen… While playing in a league with all males… From a country that typically doesnt dominate international play. Imagine the example she setting for young women. Imagine being a young(er) female hockey player watching her do what she’s doing. Purely inspirational. Who knows, we could be watching the first female player to have a regular NHL roster spot one day…

This is nuts. I so hope she makes it into professional menā€™s hockey.

I hope that the testosterone boosts boys get in their teens doesnā€™t pose too much of a barrier to her, because a woman playing in the NHL would be absolutely amazing

Too bad sheā€™ll never make as much as him šŸ™

What are the odds she actually makes the Chel? Sheā€™s not way off Caufieldā€™s build already lol

Inspirational story. Comments section a bit of a downer.

U16 isnā€™t really a mens league. Most of those boys have 3-4 more years of growth

Umm u16 is still boys not men lol. Good for her tho. Watched a bit of the women juniors and the skill was pretty good!

  8. I just want to get my thoughts out on Nela in 1 place. Firstly, what sheā€™s doing is 100% amazing. She could elevate the popularity of womenā€™s hockey and Slovakian hockey by a lot through her sheer talent and stardom alone. Thatā€™s huge.

I also want to recognize that she has a chance of making it to the NHL. Is it likely? No, absolutely not. Is it impossible? Not quite. Just her making it to the NHL, not even being a star, would require her to be an all-time freak of nature as an adult. Which, admittedly, she could be on the path to becoming. She both has a very very slim chance and has the best odds weā€™ve seen in a while. I hope she makes it. Iā€™m not expecting it, but Iā€™m holding out hope.

And I also want to recognize that even if she doesnā€™t make it to the NHL, she can still be enormously successful in womenā€™s hockey as a truly generational talent there. No matter which route she takes, she has the incredible potential to make history and I canā€™t wait to she what she does next.

    Great story, very inspirational.
Sorry to be Debbi downer but this young lady will not be 6feet 3in tall weighing 225. She is probably close to her max height and weight. No doubt about her talent but her male counterparts will catch up and surpass her.. itā€™s called basic biology.. she does However have the potential to dominate womenā€™s hockey in the future.

If Johnny Hockey can be an elite NHL player, I donā€™t see why a woman canā€™t be as shifty and skilled as he is.

I hope she can keep up the impressive stats. Would certainly bring more attention to the Slovakian U16 (Men’s) League and female athletics as a whole.

What is the skill level like in the Slovak 16u league compared to say midgetAAA in America? How many teams/divisions are there? Iā€™m gonna assume there is something like A/AA/AAA divisions like in America/Canada

Im a casual fan who always thought hockey and itā€™s fans were pretty cool, but this thread is really full of insecurity over a 14 year old girl? Weak.
