  1. He stuck his arm out, then dove. You can see in the top down view. It worked, it drew a penalty. If you don't want replay on every ticky-tac play, you will get a few like this

  2. Contact with the head and shoulder as he goes by, and that happens with or without the arm. It's easiest to see in the top down, hip goes right into the goalie's head, head snaps back. I'll be real honest, I'm not sure why he sat there with his arm out.

Ah, I think I got it. It's hard to see because of the camera angles. Shot comes in. Goalie makes the save off the right pad, rebound goes in front of him. In the overhead, you can see his head is aligned with the direction the rebound bounces-he's looking at the rebound. I think he's trying to signal to his nearby teammate where the puck is.

  3. This is why when true infractions occur they're missed by the striped guys…be a man and inflict pain on the aggressor or go to ice capades academy

  4. Definitely contact with the goalies head however he was out of the blue paint i mean still probably a penalty with head contact and with the arm contact too

  5. Goalie masks are only designed for protection from highly localized impacts i.e. pucks. They are really bad at taking blunt force impact. Definitely not a dive, head contact to a goalie will hurt more than the same play against a skater

  6. I am a goaltender of 42 years playing and a coach of 17 years. This is not goaltender interference but just another example of how soft the NHL is getting. There was no intent by the player and he was on route to set a screen with his head turned to the shooter. The goalie came out of his crease to cut down the angle into the skaters lane. Neither player was in the wrong here, it was just incidental contact.

  7. Don’t understand how being OUTSIDE of the blue paint has no effect in a case like this. Obviously we don’t want injured goalies but the rule is there for a reason. The skaters have their area, and goalies have theirs. If they enter the entitled area of a skater, it becomes a contact sport for goaltenders. Simple as that.

  8. Goalie masks are not designed to take hits to the head like that. Everyone saying this is embellishment has no clue what they're talking about.

  9. It’s dangerous for goalies to dive, it’s gonna end up getting a goalie truly hurt!

  10. Why do people think embellishment is? Getting hit on purpose as some suggest and then showing that it hurt doesn't mean embellishment since it can still hurt.

  11. Sad that Buffalo STILL hasn’t gotten a player who can hold offenders accountable. Miller had no one years ago and UPL the same. Run my goalie, pay the price. Soft teams have this kinda stuff happen to them. No fear of any retribution.

  12. He was literally not even touching the paint when he was hit. And Smith was looking for the puck, didn't expect the goalie to be that far out. 0.25x makes it pretty obvious. Probably a tough call in real time, but it was the wrong call.
