I mean, I like Paterson, but common man, you know 100% you guys lost access because Matt Sekeres is one of the dumbest motherfuckers around and cannot stop himself from constantly making up completely untrue rumours about players.
Well when youโre associated with Sekeres & Price you know youโre fโขcked.

Yeah I love Jeff but we are the company we keep . And sadly Matt has done a lot of just straight up lying about this club to drive clicks over some less then savoury story lines over the years and I feel like this has less to do with the club not making enough space for independent outlets to have access to coverage and more to do with the tabloid approach that s/p have reported on the team with over the years .
Sekeres sucks
I dislike Matt sekeres as much as the next guy but I’m surprised to see comments understanding of this decision… canucks shouldn’t disallow legitimate media members from attending press conferences just because they don’t like what they have to say… and Jpat has earned his stripes in this market, regardless of who he currently works with. Just my 2 cents
Sekeres embellishes rumours and narratives and can even make stuff up on occasion. Iโd imagine the team doesnโt really think that is accredited. Maybe the team applies that accreditation to GoGoat Sports, but even then thatโs a pretty weak of an excuse to not have Paterson allowed in the building or not be accredited.
Jeff should 100% have access regardless of who he works for/with.
The people who are defending this are out of their minds. Brian Burke had an open war with the editor of the Province over similar allegations. He never banned the paper or the writer and even defending their rights to cover the team.

Sekeres and Price have consistently been the worst show in Vancouver sports. They actually made me miss Dave Pratt and his leather pants.
I can’t believe people are defending this, remember also that they have limited access to The Athletic as well.
Sekeres sucks but this is above and beyond petty.
Who cares? These guys just flap their mouths constantly but never really say anything. They aren’t journalists they’re promoters or hype men. Middlemen delivering BS from the NHL PR and marketing office to you.

If you want to commit career suicide than yes, associate with Sekeres. And donโt take my word for it, ask Price.
Okay, I follow a lot of Canucks related media guys (Halford, Brough, Riccio, Randip, Shah, Drance, etc) and while Iโve definitely heard Sekeres name before, I havenโt actually listened to or read any of his stuff. What has done thatโs warranted being blacklisted from the team?
I wonder what the requirements for media access are. Kind of seems like anyone with a podcast expects to get in. Obviously JPat is legit, but there are countless numbers to people with twitter bios referencing podcasts/blogs that nobody has ever heard of.
The Ray & Dregs podcast is also on GoGoat Sports, does that mean Ray Ferraro also has limited access despite being married to Cammi Granato? I guess he could probably just use his ESPN gig for credentials but interesting nonetheless. Iโm pretty sure Cammi herself used to have a podcast on their network before landing the AGM gig too.
