  1. Same story, different day. You may as well pin this post as I sound like a broken record as it sums up the Red Wings

The Wings have some good 2nd,3rd,4th line players and average to below average defensemen but no top line/game changing players

90% of the time they will be dominated by teams with top line talent and they have a 50-50 shot against fellow less talented teams.

The worst part is that no top line offensive talent is in anywhere on the horizon.

It’s time for the team to join the Bedard sweepstakes. Best case scenario for this team is a season ending injury to Larkin and they finish the year with 44 points (same as current total)

  2. They also NEED TO STOP DUMPING THE PUCK IN THE ZONE ALL THE TIME when there not trying to do a line change. Valeno has been the only one consistently entering the zone the old way like the Russian 5 through this season so far

  3. They played well, kinda funny to see the reaction to this one. The two goals against were kind of flukey, and they couldn't keep the pace up for 60 minutes, but why should we talk about blowing things up after a game where they finally managed 40 shots on goal?

Team just needs to play better, the players are good enough if the system works

  4. I've also been thinking for awhile that Lalonde has been mixing up the lines way to much which makes it harder to have chemistry between players

  5. This loss is on Derek Lalonde. Husso should have started at Arizona and Helburg should have started the day game at Colorado. They had no chance to beat Colorado on Monday no matter who was in net, but they did have a chance to beat Arizona if Husso started.

  6. As a captain, Larkin has shown me nothing in times like this… Zero leadership capabilities & second-line centre play. He can walk as far as I'm concerned.

  7. The last 11 minutes was dump the puck and retreat like on a penalty kill. Cycle in your own zone and run into each other while failing to clear the puck consistently. Don't put anyone near the other teams net or offensive zone for that matter, just line up on your blue line and hope they don't get by you. Don't bother getting control of the puck in OT, and let the other team slide into your legs to take control of the puck. As far as shootouts, not a single player on the team is a finesse goal scorer so skate to the net and a wrist shot is all we get. By the way shootouts aren't stupid, they rock! Yzerman, Federov, Datsuk, and so many others have won games for us it's really sad to see you give up on such an exciting part of the game just because we don't have any consistent goal scorers.

  8. this game showcased literally every flaw this team has from top to bottom. even the coaching staff is to blame at this point

  9. We do not have any "elite' players. We had bad luck in the draft and also messed up taking Rassmussen and Zidina that high
Maybe Seider will be elite in the future. Every good team has an elite scorer or two. Mantha should have been that guy

  10. I think there are moves out there that can be made to bring a player in for a player and other roster pieces, while coming out ahead. There are some big change of scenery names out there. If Bert or Perron are getting traded, I feel like Yzerman will want a player that can take their minutes instead of just picks, ie, it would have to be a good deal. I'm not advocating for either to be traded or not, rather, I'm trying to think of all the ways the deadline could go.

  11. Wings play with zero confidence…Don't know exactly how you "coach" that. They also need to trade Larkin at deadline and get whatever they can; he is NO WAY worth top money. If they sign him for 8 to 10 million a year he will cripple this team

  12. As someone who's always loved hockey over football, whilst following both regularly i find it telling that I've been much more enthralled with the Lions as of late. Even with the beginning of the culture shift last year I never would have dreamed that Brad Holmes and the Lions would be the first Detroit team to really come back yet here we are. I love Stevie and still have faith in him, but fuck if this last month hasn't really looked bad for him.

  13. I hate to be that guy and I understand he at least deserves another year, but Newsy hasn't really bought me yet.

  14. I think they had too injuries and different people in and out of the lineup. I feel like we’re still trying to figure out line combinations and defensive pairings while other teams already got that shit figured out which makes us look very inconsistent. Might as well accept this season’s has and will probably continue to be a shit show. It’s actually a miracle they did as well as they did early in the season. Hopefully we’ll get some lottery luck this year.

  15. Trade Larkin, Bertuzzi and everyone with some value. Start this rebuild from scratch. This core is bad and needs to ben changed.

  16. Greatest snooze fest this season. How’d the wings beat the leafs? Pretty frustrated

  17. I know people might hate this. But tbh they’re playing to expectations. To me they are a .500 team and they’re playing at that level. Everyone’s expectations rose way too much when the wings started hot. Some changes need to be changed like shoot the puck on the Powerplay, try to get a proven goal scorer for Bert, and find another shutdown d man. Seider can do it but he can’t physically play 60 minutes. They need another shutdown d man and not a fringe one like Maata. The season is still good. I’m sure there’s others who would rather watch and cheer for a team that’s .500 with a future. Then a team who by this time would probably be 10-15 games below .500 and think the future is bleak or get readily disappointed in the lottery
