Went from expecting us to be at least in and out of the wild card spot to quickly securing a spot in the bottom ten. At least if we continue this trend, we may have a chance at some lottery luck. Maybe this is all part of Yzermans bigger picture? Is he playing 5D chess? Haha
I was staying positive at the beginning but around Thanksgiving the writing was on the wall so I stayed neutral thinking if they just hovered around middle of the league then that’s still quite an improvement…but now? I don’t care if I see another win this season.
It was a test of a season to see if the rebuild should be accelerated around Larkin/hronek but I think we’ve got the answer now. If Bert and vrana had stayed well all season then I expect we would be hovering around the middle. I also expect that it would’ve fooled many into thinking we would make the playoffs soon so there would have been a lot of upset people here when yzerman decided to sell anyway (which I think he would’ve).

Hilarious people think Yzerman moved the needle closer to a Stanley Cup with the signings he made this summer. The only reason why are keeping it close is the same as last year, other teams are also playing bad. Florida, Pittsburgh, Islanders, Capitals are all having mediocre seasons, making us closer to a WC spot than we should be. The signings wasnt bad by any stretch, but they were just a lifebuoy thrown out to keep us floating, and thats exactly what we are doing.
So when do we start discussing who’s on the hot seat this season? Something has to give here. I bet Yzerman is working behind the scenes right now on something. He’s either going to sell at the deadline or some staff are going be to let go. This is some of the worst hockey we have seen in a long time probably since that 18-19 season
Think I’m gonna pass on tomorrow’s game. If the team isn’t gonna bother showing up on the ice I’m not gonna lose sleep over them.

To be clear, I am not staying up to watch the Vegas game, but it wouldn’t surprise me to wake up to see them win or look very competitive in that game. Our tendency to play to the level of the opponent is bizarrely one of the few consistent things about the team.
