Totally forgot about Anson Carter. Brought back memories of him in Boston back in the day

  2. I’m only here for the “keep politics out of hockey 😢😭” crowd 🍿

  3. PostLabFluffy

This sub: reeeee don’t tell me what to respect

  4. Raven1592

This is him supporting Provorov decision then

  5. Makima_boner

Out of sheer curiosity, if the NHL is promoting equality, hockey for everyone, then why is it such an issue that Provorov expressed his views and followed them? Is it only for certain groups that hockey is equal? Or are there different standards?

  6. Johnnywalgger

So is he defending or attacking Provorov?

  7. BarDownBoi

Unless that difference means religion. As soon as its religious beliefs this quote gets torn apart. I personally support LGBT communities, but i also support peoples religious beliefs. Who is the one who gets to decide what more important? Someones faith or someones sexual identity?

  8. ProfessionalInvite29

The constitution guarantees freedom of conscience, religion, thought, belief, opinion, expression, and the right to equal protection and benefit of the law without discrimination based on religion.

I am very supportive of the LGBTQ+ community. But I believe people need to leave Proporov alone. His personal beliefs have nothing to do with the sport. If he is doing something illegal based on his beliefs, then send him to jail. If he never brings them up and gets shamed because he was being forced to open up about it, I think that’s wrong.

Like I said, I support the community. But I think hockey player beliefs should not be advertised and made public like this. Instead of making jerseys and forcing people to believe in something, the organization should just take the money and donate it to a LGTBQ+ community or charity.

It’s 2023. Get with the times or get left behind as intolerant. 2 dudes banging or 2 women banging doesn’t affect my day to day life. Until everyone’s included without question then pride nights are really the only way to show support. Wear the fucking jersey ffs, grow up

  11. Mondo_the_dukes

Does that mean respecting someones religious belief? Or their opinion on what recently became a political matter?

  12. PharoahNATO

Provorov has every right to do what he did, it’s not like he said “we should kill all the gays” he has every right to not wear a colourful virtue signalling jersey. This really doesn’t have to be a big issue, whatever happened to freedom of speech and expression? What he’s doing is not a hate crime #cope

  13. frankrocksjesus

No….ur RESPONSIBILITY is ON ICE support. Everything else is a CHOICE.

  14. tdestito9

I mean he’s exactly right. And so is the Flyers player.

  15. Sauronsindexfinger

We should accept everyone no matter what? Like Nazis? Like Terrorists? Like Ethnic cleansers? Everyone has a right to say what they want and everyone has a right to not participate in every social movement. It’s not like the guy went out of his way to say he hates gay people. He just doesn’t want to wear a fucking patch. Big deal. I miss the days we went to sporting events for the sports.

  16. jwarden15

I find it odd how people are making a big deal about this, yet I hardly heard anything about the NBA playing preseason games in UAE, where they will kill you for being gay.

    I have a question!

Is being a good teammate a choice, or natural? Are mentally ill people choosing to be mentally ill, or is it a natural occurance in the brain?

  18. Otterslayer22

Remember when this guy tried to Ruin Russo’s career by calling him racist?

  19. DivClassLg

This should be taught and more importantly enforced at the youth level.

There is alot of lip service but mostly just that…

  20. _stoned_chipmunk_

The issue I have is the team allowing him to play. His own coach said he would bench any players who refused to stand during the national anthem. How is this different? It’s a personal conviction for him that ultimately is a distraction for the team. He doesn’t want to support the acceptance of gays in hockey? No problem, but he shouldn’t have been allowed to play in that game as a consequence.

  21. Skygazer24

Provorov was being a good teammate.

“The entire NHL fan base thinks I’m a piece of shit”, lamented Tony DeAngelo. He started breaking down in feont of his locker. “I don’t know how to fix it.” came forth from his lips in between sobs.

“I got you, tovarisch” came from the back of the locker room.

Stop being woke, if gays, jews, catholics, blacks, hispanics, etc.. want to play hockey that’s awesome. Forcing an agenda on someone, is not cool.

  23. Why are we stilling talking about this? Yeah cool Provorov didn’t want to wear a pride jersey. Oh the humanity! Think of the children!

You need to understand not everyone has been raised the same, especially in a NATIONAL league that lets people all around the world play in it.

Either agree with him, or disagree, and shut up. Can we please get back to hockey?

  24. forthebrand93

FFS this has been blown out of proportion. Do people really think that lambasting this guy for not wearing a pride jersey is going to get him to change his mind?

The stupid thing about all of this is the NHL or the Flyers don’t give 2 craps about the pride movement (or any other social movement for that matter). All they see is extra dollars being thrown their way for having a “special night”.

  25. TUbadTuba

Race isn’t even a real thing. Made up by fascists and progressives

  26. This reads like it is in support of Provorov

  27. liberated-dremora

Hello, I’m a man who has sex with other men:

Get over it, nobody cares, OP is just a virtue signaling clown. A guy didn’t want to wear a shirt once, it’s not going to lead me to getting round up and put into a “pray the gay away” camp.

  28. juliuspepperwoodchi

Gotta love how the folks defending Provorov on the basis of “he’s just staying true to his religious beliefs” keep ignoring that those religious beliefs of his include it being a sin for him to work on Sunday…something he’s literally slated to do THIS weekend.

Surely he’ll be a healthy scratch for that game so he doesn’t sin, right?

    Right?
