Alright, Let's Talk About The Nils Hoglander ZORRO Goal & Vasili Podkolzin @ World Juniors (Canucks)

Yup, that just happened. Vancouver Canucks prospects at the 2020 World Juniors include Toni Utunen for Team Finland, Karel Plasek for Team Czech Republic, Vasili Podkolzin for Team Russia, and Nils Hoglander for Team Sweden. The latter two are the ones making headlines with some really good performances, so let’s talk about them here today. Podkolzin got a goal, and Hoglander got a goal and an assist. However, Hoglander’s performance had a lot more pizzaz, as he scored the famous, groundbreaking, new and trendy Zorro goal. Or the Michigan. Or the Mike Legg. Or the lacrosse goal. Or the Svechnikov. Yeah. That one.

  1. Imagine Nils Hoglander Plays LW with Petterson and Boeser. Not mentioning Hughes as well. The future is yours Vancouver

  2. That Hoglander goal was filthy!!! (It’s called the Michigan Move or Shot btw! ;-). And I didn’t even realize Podz got a goal… thought he had an assist.

  3. Glad you're calling it what it is – a Zorro goal 🇸🇪
Really looking forward to the next couple of years for the Canucks. The future looks bright indeed

  4. I remember the old days when WJC came along and the Canucks had nobody or next to nobody in the tournament. Those days are gone. Go Benning!!!

  5. Mikael Granlund did this way back in 2011 world championship and HE was the one whose trademark this move was. A bit annoyed how people just now made this svetchnicov's or Hoglander's move when In reality Granlund was most likely the one who inspired all the kids their age to try something like this and this specific move. JUST SAYING CHECK IT OUT. Finland won the world championship that year and the goal granlund scored became iconic at least here in Finland and for a long time everywhere else too.

  6. I do kinda like the name for the lacrosse style goals but I’d still stick with the original name and just call it “The Michigan” after the first player to do it at University of Michigan back 20 years ago or so. I’ll take anything over announcers just calling it “lacrosse style goal” though, it gets really repetitive and annoying.
