Anyone catch the interview with Sutter, when the asked him if he thought about pulling Markstrom and he said something along the line of not at all you want me to give this team some spark and he did this with a smirk.

Does just not give a shit anymore šŸ¤”

They’re still in the playoff mix, so you just hope they go on a heater and make it, but last night was the first time all year I felt pretty pessimistic about our chances.

Similar with the Canucks, our organizations are just stuck in the middle, with owners/gms who refuse to recognize that a rebuild might be the best for the long term outlook of the franchise. I want a Mackinnon/Bedard. Why can’t we have an electrifying talent (oh wait….)

Just watching Mackinnon fly up and down the ice, it hurt man. We looked so inferior. We simply don’t have the offensive talent to truly compete right now, and when your defense/goaltending isn’t top 5 with shit scoring you end up in our position.

  3. Sutterā€™s post game interview was embarrassing. The Flames appear to be in big trouble. WTF was his answer ā€œIf you say so.ā€? Awful to watch.

At least we learned that the guy who gets new pucks is named Chris.

Mediocre hockey team is mediocre. Sutter turned our supposed franchise superstar into a 55 pt player. Nice accomplishment.

You canā€™t beat the cup champions twiceā€¦ I guess heā€™s honest at least. Pretty embarrassing stuff.

Iā€™m really starting to get impatient with Sutter

As terrible as that hockey game was it still feltā€¦ winnable. Like, pretty bad officiating mixed in with an awful start, weā€™re down 3-0. If Markstrom just makes a great save on one of those itā€™s 2-0, then if on ANY of those EXTREMELY high danger chances we actually found the back of the net and Toffoli still scores his powerplay goal, itā€™s tied up. We at least wouldā€™ve got the Calgary Flames point for making it to OT.

I swear, flames have the highest unscreened shots per 60 this season. Like, everyone shot, there’s nobody screening their opposing goaltender.

Also, the flames seem incapable of getting a good bounce for rebound, or are always just out of position for the easy tap it. It’s actually infuriating to watch the basics just not happen.

We went all in this offseason and the team is significantly worse than it was last year. Weā€™re back to being the Flames of the post cup run and Iā€™m depressed af about that. Ownership refuses to properly rebuild and weā€™re going to be stuck in mediocrity because of it.

Itā€™s become kind of evident that even if we had the exact same roster as we did last year, we were due for an aggressive regression toward the mean. Everything that could have gone in last year for us went in, and the opposite is happening this year where everything that could go in against us is going in.

This team is going to be my 13th reason. I’m honestly just so tired of watching them suck and not care at all. I’d rather watch a team play with heart and determination and lose then whatever the fuck we’re seeing this year. This season is starting to feel a lot like the 56 game season.

If Vladar is playing so much better why aren’t see starting Vladar? It’s not like their stats are the same, we aren’t good enough to be starting our second best goalie all the fucking time.

I think Sutter’s old school way of thinking will be our demise honestly…

Said it before, Iā€™ll say it again; This team is getting smoked IF we make playoffs. Thereā€™s no star power here that can take a game over if need be (#10 hasnā€™t shown that ability yet), or no goalie that can straight up steal a game, so it comes down to outplaying the opponent night in and night out and it wears on the players after a while playing Sutter hockey. Not sure what the solution here is

Can’t believe Sarg showed up and the Flames didn’t

I donā€™t think you can dispute that Sutter is a good coach. Obviously his two cups and win record are evidence of that.

Something Iā€™ve been thinking about though is this: Sutter is still using the same system and trying to build the same kind of team he had when he won the cups. Interestingly, when he won his cups the NHL was having a sort of second Dead Puck Era with a lot of low scoring, one goal games. This is the exact kind of hockey his LA Kingā€™s team was built for.

The league is a lot more high scoring now then it was a decade ago and itā€™s quite possible Sutterā€™s system just canā€™t compete with the way the game is played now. Obviously you can point to the Flames record last year to support Sutterā€™s system. However, seeing how Gaudreau and Tkachuk are playing on their new teams, you could argue the Flames succeeded despite Sutterā€™s system because of our elite top line.
