Mike Tyson’s right cross/overhand right aka the one hitter quitter. In this video I breakdown how mike delivered his 1 punch knock out right cross

Although this technique may seem straight forward and you even hear some commentators state that it’s a bit of a “hail Mary” right hand, I disagree.

This punch goes against most of the widely accepted ‘proper ways’ to throw a right hand. And yet, somehow Mike would continuously get away with it and in fact, it was a major tool in him becoming one of the greatest heavyweights of all time.

So in this video, I breakdown for you the minute details that allowed Tyson to get away with it.

If you’ve been wondering how to land a right cross, the techniques in this video will help you.

The first thing I breakdown is how Tyson throws the right cross (Sometimes it was even a lead right) and not get countered. This was a very important technique in tysons arsenal because in the early stages of his career, he would use all these different punches while coming in which made him very hard to defend against as his opponents never knew what was coming next.

In the second part of the video, I breakdown how Mike Tyson was able to generate 1 punch knockout power with it. The techniques in this part of the breakdown count for many Mike Tyson right hand knock outs but they can also be applied to other punches, if you’re trying to learn how to punch harder

And in the third part of the video, I cover how Tyson was able to create the opening and actually land the right cross over and over again no matter the shape, size or height of the opponents. Again, the techniques in this breakdown can be used of other punches, not just the right hand. If you’ve been struggling to get on the inside and land power punches on your opponents, this will help you.

Was this Mike Tyson’s most powerful punch? I believe it was but as you probably already know, its a much harder punch to land, especially when you’re loading up on it like Mike is in the example clips.

The only reason why he was able to land this punch at all is because of all the techniques that I broke down in the video. So learn them well and take them in to sparring or your next fight and let me know how it goes!

  1. Nice. Exactly what ive been practicing. Jab level change sidestep hook straight . I do the left jab before every combo and this morning my left arm was super sore from jab , hook ,hook combos. I love the jab to level change to 6561 or just 761. My body is not as sore as it was when i started and i noticed my punches are alot better now. From no activity to 30 minutes of shadow boxing every night now. Its fun. And getting easier.

  2. Ive been doing the shuffle step into the right like him . I have a willie bag set up on my window so i can shadow box at night time. I stand afew feet from not hitting the window and hit like im hitting a heavy hag. Very taxing on the shoulders when you wear those huge boxing gloves but also makes your punch very solid

  3. Kindly do a video on how to deal with pushes and how to maintain balance when getting pushed from opponent on peekabo

  4. About the feint jab, I think Mike used it not only to confuse and blind the opponent but also to generate even more momentum.
    Amazing breakdown Logan!

  5. Logan please can you do a basic boxing movement for beginners? Something involving a lot of leg movements

  6. Bro think you can do a video on when to step backwards and when is the right time to come foward

  7. Hey Logan,
    Great video, really informative.
Just one thing that I’ve been struggling on was the actual slipping mechanism.
I feel that doing the slips will eventually hurt my back, I don’t know if maybe I’m going too far with my slip even though as you said if your an aggressive peekaboo fighter you slip far.
Maybe it’s also due to my ab strength, my abs are strong enough ( not as strong as Mykes with the insane amount of push-ups he did each day)
It’s still baffling me to this day, hope you can help.
If anyone else knows of how to improve shoot a comment love brethren ❤️

  8. Great breakdown the set ups and footwork are very similar in all these KOs but the punches are very different some are like you pointed out crosses turn to hooks last moment but some are short crosses and the most vicious ones are pure whipping overhands another one too study is v Alex Stewart that’s an overhand clinic!

  9. I like to box but I have degenerative disc in my neck and low back, would the side to side slipping make it worse, i feel low back pain after training?

  10. Will you ever post a fight to your channel where you put it all into practice. I think you do this very well and it definitely fits your body type. I'm a 5ft 9" muscular guy so I want to implement this stuff into my Muay Thai as I am a heavyweight so I am always going forward to get in range to strike. I tend to take hits doing this though.

  11. You are the only person exposing boxing 🥊 how professional fite and train good work love ceep exposing boxing
