Jeremy Swayman made 31 saves and the Boston Bruins won their fourth game in a row, 3-1 against the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden on Thursday.

Patrice Bergeron, Pavel Zacha and Connor Clifton scored for the Bruins (36-5-4), who have won six consecutive road games. They are 8-1-0 in January. Brad Marchand and David Krejci each had two assists.

Igor Shesterkin made 24 saves and Ben Harpur scored his first goal of the season for the Rangers (25-14-7), who have seven goals in their past four games, going 2-2-0.

Zacha gave the Bruins a 1-0 lead at 1:19 of the first period with a deflection in the slot of Krejci’s slap shot from the right point.

The Rangers killed Boston’s 5-on-3 power play for 1:42 that started with 5:33 remaining in the period. But they couldn’t take advantage of the momentum.

Swayman made a glove save on Artemi Panarin’s shot off the rush from the right circle at 16:35 and stopped Chris Kreider’s deflection of Panarin’s pass at 19:56.

Bergeron extended Boston’s lead to 2-0 at 4:42 of the second period with a shot from the right circle that went in under the crossbar.

Swayman again preserved the Bruins lead by stopping Panarin on a breakaway at 13:07 of the second. He made 22 saves in the first two periods, 11 in each.

Clifton scored 28 seconds into the third period, making it 3-0 with a short-side shot from the right circle off a 2-on-1 with Marchand.

Harpur scored with a shot from the left point into the top right corner to cut Boston’s lead to 3-1 at 15:37 of the third period.

Boston played the final 38:15 with five defensemen, losing Brandon Carlo to a lower-body injury early in the second period.

  1. It is really starting to become aggravating of how inconsistent this team really is this season regarding not scoring in 5v5 situations until it's too late, and not converting on the power play in crucial moments of the game, especially tonight. I get it that some people will tell me that the Rangers did play against the league's best tonight, but that is not the full case here. I am hoping the Rangers will respond quickly with a win against the Florida Panthers next Monday. They're gonna need the extra days off if you ask me.

  2. It's Boston's cup to lose. They are a machine. This game wouldn't bug me so much if we had beaten MTL.

  3. The boys have to shoot! They know mentally Boston is incredible this season but don't be afraid to make some noise boys let's go!!

  4. Chris Drury completely over evaluated this team this year go get me some up-and-down winger's that score stop this ridiculous passing clinic and shoot the f**** Puc

  5. The expressions on his face are The expressions many other teams fans have as well, and get used to it, the Bruins are that good

  6. It would be very nice if the Bruins organization could they let me know now when the Cup parade will be. I need to let work know I won't be in.🧸🧸🧸🧸🧸🏒🏒🏒🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆💥💥💥💥🔥🔥🔥🔥🎊🎉🎊🎉🐻🐻🐻🐻🐻

  7. I have to admit I feel bad for this kid. As a lifelong B’s fan of nearly 40 years I can honestly say I’ve never seen anything like this except maybe the ‘01 Avalanche. Which coincidentally enough had one of the greatest B’s of all time Ray Bourque on the team! Not to mention they had several HOF’ers from Bourque to Sakic, Roy, Forsberg and Rob Blake. I have lived in N.C. for 14 years since being stationed here in early ‘09 and I can say the support for the Canes down here is ABSOLUTELY PATHETIC!! When I go see the B’s play the Canes it’s always at least 1/3 full of B’s fans with the exception of when I went to game 4 of the 2019 ECF’s when we finished off the sweep, that time it was about 1/4 of the crowd were B’s fans. Anyways apologies for the long comment but I have subbed because I will support anyone who is passionate about their NHL team!!

  8. Haula is not on the team. Why do kiddies of today film themselves thinking people want to look at this?

  9. Zacha first goal, traded him for Haula- thank you for these reactions, love the passion 🐻❤️

  10. Limiting odd man rushes, especially 2 on 1's is huge, back check, covering the layers, winning the 50/50 pucks often is winning hockey, Defense is the most critical, good defensive covering leads to offensive opportunities 🇺🇸🏒🇨🇦

  11. “My eyes feel like their gunna bleed, I’m counting sheep but runnin out”

  12. Boston is machine right now they will win the presidents 🏆 we will need another scorer ! But it all comes down to the playoffs! We need more goal scoring! I am losing confidence in Alexis Lefeniere and little Kakko but especially Alexis they said that he was a miss pick! Just look at the number one draft pick across the town in New Jersey Jack Hughes is tremendous! By the way, I give you credit when you videos how do you do it without cursing? I can never make a video. I don’t keep my cool.

  13. Rangers played good but not good enough. We had many chances, we just didn't capitalize on them. All of the Bruins goals weren't that impressive. They all came at the beginning of each period when we were the most vulnerable. However, when we were able to expose their vulnerability, we didn't do anything. I think we needed to think more simply, just simple passes and shots to the net. We tried fancy plays that ended up being too tough to finish. Should have just done what the Bruins did and throw the puck to the net and hope for some puck luck. Playing simple definitely would have helped us out more.
