So I have been a fan of the Sabres for about 15 years now. Grew up in the Toronto area and then right before high school I realized that just because I’m from Toronto, doesn’t mean I have to be a fan of one of the most obnoxious franchises that exist across all major sports. I Played goalie so I loved Hasek’s style of throwing a random body part out and making a miraculous save, and there was this up and coming guy named Ryan Miller that was just sliding into the full time starter roll. Then the [Campbell hit on Umberger](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NxYHZSl9Sno&ab_channel=HockeyWebCast) was the final piece I needed to convert for good.
All those years of just watching on TV to see the Goathead jerseys (holy shit they are so so sooooo good looking in person) accompanied by seeing so many hockey fans that don’t wear shitty leafs jerseys.. just…. wow.
The game was enjoyable from start to finish. Seeing Miller drop the puck to two goalies, hearing the goal horn go off as much as it did, laughing at the two friends I went with who decided to wear Ducks jerseys, having my first beef on weck, and not hitting refresh on the subreddit to see people complain about the same bad play I just saw (I do it as well lol) was different.
Speed of the game, the salutes from the players at the end of the game, and the overall atmosphere was fantastic and I’m 100% going back to another game much much sooner than 15 years from now.
The only thing that sucked was there was a guy in his twenties a row behind that narrated the whole game from start to finish and honestly didn’t have great hockey knowledge but passed it off like he did (he thought the hand pass was a penalty)… Like I cant stress how annoying it was to not go 10 seconds without hearing this guys input. Also when UPL makes a save everyone does a low tone LUUUUU.. but this guy said it at a high pitch and it just irked me the whole game! Like if you’re going to do it do it right lol If you’re from row 10 section 117 and this is you.. please don’t do this again. Its extremely annoying to the people around you
